GIMP (անգլ.՝ GNU Image Manipulation Program), ազատ կոդով ռաստրային գրաֆիկական խմբագրիչ[54]։ Օգտագործվում է պատկերների փոփոխության, նկարչական, վերաձևման, ֆորմատների փոփոխության և այլ նպատակներով։

GIMP֊ը թողարկվել է GPLv3+ արտոնագրով և հասանելի է Լինուքս, OS X և Windows օպերացիոն համակարգերում։

Անվանում

Սկզբում «GIMP» անվանումը նշանակել է անգլերեն General Image Manipulation Program, իսկ 1997 թվականին ամբողջական անվանումը փոխվեց «GNU Image Manipulation Program», և ծրագիրը պաշտոնապես դարձավ GNU պրոյեկտի մաս։

Տիպիկ առաջադրանքները, որոնք հնարավոր է լուծել GIMP֊ի միջոցով, հանդիսանում են գրաֆիկաների և պատկերանիշների ստեղծումը, պատկերի մասշտաբավորումը և շրջանակումը, գունավորումը, պատկերների միացումը՝ օգտագործելով շերտերը և պատկերների ֆորմատների փոփոխությունը։

GIMP 2.x֊ը GTK+ 2.x ինտերֆեյսով

Ծրագրի գործիքակազմի ինտերֆեյսի կառուցման համար GIMP֊ն օգտագործում է GTK+ միջավայրը։ «GTK+»-ն սկզբում GIMP մտավ որպես այլընտրանք կոմերցիոն Motif գրադարանի, որն օգտագործվում էր GIMP-ի նախնական տարբերականերում։ GIMP-ը և «GTK+»-ն սկզբում ստեղծված էին միայն X Window System համակարգի համար և միայն հետո տեղափոխվեցին Microsoft Windows, OS/2, Mac OS X և SkyOS։

Վիլբերտ հանդիսանում է GIMP-ի թալիսմանը, որը ստեղծել է Թուոմաս Կուոսամենը։

Ավանդաբար GIMP-ը համարվում է նմանօրինակ խմբագրիչների ազատ կոդով այլըտրանք (հաճախ նշվում է Adobe Photoshop֊ը), չնայած մշակողները դեմ են նման համեմատություններին։

FreeBSD

GIMP֊ը մտնում է FreeBSD֊ի ամբողջական փաթեթի մեջ։

Mac OS X

Պրոյեկտը պաշտոնապես աջակցում է Mac OS X 10.6 և ավելի բարձր տարբերակներին։

Microsoft Windows

1997 թվականին սկսվեց GIMP֊ի (GTK+ գրադարանի հետ) տեղափոխությունը Microsoft Windows պլատֆորմի վրա։

Այս պահին GIMP֊ը հասանելի է Windows֊ի բոլոր տարբերակներում և հնարավոր է բեռնել պաշտոնական կայքից։
