Off-the-scale brand cachet, mountains of horsepower, and effortless good looks are but a trio of pillars supporting Aston Martin. Taking a run through tony neighbourhoods or eyeing the valet’s front row at an expensive hotel will likely uncover many Astons — whether it two-door coupés, the new SUV, or the brand’s on/off dalliance with four-door sedans.
In other words, this is one Brit with a set of good-looking teeth.

Aston Martin SUVs
Aston Martin has only recently entered the lucrative crossover/SUV segment, quickly finding success (and profits) with its DBX. The model is presently available in a pair of trims, standard DBX or DBX 707. The main difference between these two machines, besides many thousands of dollars, is power — the DBX makes 543 horsepower whilst the DBX 707 is good for 697 ponies. If you’re wondering, that ‘707’ moniker comes from the number of metric horsepower it makes, which is slightly different than mechanical horsepower which is a more widely recognized unit of measure.
Both deploy an all-alloy twin-turbo V8 engine with 4.0L of displacement. Likewise, each trim is equally equipped with a nine-speed automatic and all-wheel drive, though the 707 is said to have some driveline tricks up its sleeve to deal with the extra power. Brakes are also beefed up on the 707, with larger front discs utilizing carbon ceramic construction. In other words, this thing stops as well as it goes. And go it does — 100 km/h from rest is yours in 3.3 seconds, on its way to a top speed of approximately triple the limit on most Canadian highways.
Aston Martin Cars
The segment for which Aston Martin is arguably best know — swoopy and sensual two-door cars — is represented these days by a trio of models. The Vantage kicks off its line with a coupe (or convertible) powered by a 4.0L V8 making 500 horsepower and roughly a like amount of torque. Felonious velocities are yours in just 3.6 seconds (add 0.2 ticks for the droptop thanks to extra weight). A so-called F1 Edition cranks the wick to 527 horses. As in other years, AM can also shoehorn a V12 into the Vantage engine bay, showing up as a 5.2L twelve-pot good for just shy of 700 psychotic horsepower.
Stepping up a rung on the ladder we find the DB11, currently filling the Grand Touring staple of Aston Martin’s lineup. It is available as coupe, fitted with either a 630 horsepower V12 or 528 horsepower V8 engine. Guess which one we fancy. The V8 is also offered in convertible — sorry, Volante — guise for well-heeled customers who want to feel the wind in their hair. An eight-speed automatic is a willing dance partner in this striking two-door attention getter.
Occupying the catbird seat on Aston’s food chain is the mighty DBS, priced into the stratosphere while offering obscene levels of horsepower and swaggery good looks. The standard (‘base’ is most assuredly not the right term) V12 engine in the coupe and convertible makes 715 horsepower, outstripping the DBX and making the sorts of noises which may be illegal in some parts of the world. Racing to 100 km/h takes just 3.4 seconds — on a closed course, obviously. With the 2023 model year likely being the DBS’ swan song, Aston Martin has introduced the 770 Ultimate trim, making (you guess it) 770 metric horsepower or 759 ponies. AM plans to build less than 500 of these things, roughly split between coupe and convertible though the latter will be slightly more exclusive. As with all Astons, the experience can largely be customized to yer heart’s content; in other words, the brand’s online configurator is a great place to fritter away an afternoon.
