Why is it, that when I look at snippets of people performing mundane tasks five, six decades ago, they seem to be living life much more passionately with strong conviction than people do now?

I got an email from my aunt in Los Angeles who performs chamber music, and she recently held a chamber concert in her living room. The next day, her neighbor who wasn’t at the event, thanked her for the music and said he and many others in the neighborhood opened all their
