Meet Tara Zahtila, DO, a pioneer in medical education at Northwell Health. As vice president of Academic Affairs and Deputy DIO, she manages more than 200 residency and fellowship programs, ensuring Northwell's high standards for medical education. A champion of physician training, Dr. Zahtila spearheads new initiatives, major transitions in graduate medical education (GME), and collaborates on key committees. She mentors future healthcare leaders, exemplified by her role in the Mentoring and Professionalism-in-Training program. Beyond Northwell, she serves on committees for Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME), and speaks nationally on GME and leadership.
