🔦 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭: 𝐉𝐚𝐤𝐨𝐛 𝐖𝐞𝐝𝐝𝐞𝐥 We’re celebrating 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐲 with one last spotlight! 🎉 Jakob Weddel recently graduated from 𝐖𝐞𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 with a degree in 𝐌𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 and a 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐨𝐫, finishing with 𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐬. He joined KIHOMAC to explore how aerospace engineering works in practice—and he’s doing just that by supporting our EGMS and SMS Super Kit projects. His passion for aerospace began early, and his internship at KIHOMAC has given him the opportunity to work hands-on in the field—specifically using 𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 to produce key components for the 𝐅-𝟑𝟓 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐏𝐨𝐝. Professionally inspired by the scientists and engineers behind the moon landing, he’s driven by a desire to be part of something just as groundbreaking. 🔦 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭: 𝐑𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐲 𝐄𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐬 This year, we’re excited to have a driven intern from 𝐆𝐞𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐚 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲, majoring in 𝐄𝐱𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 with plans to pursue a master’s in athletic training at LSU. What sets this intern apart is her eagerness to learn—not just about the tasks at hand, but about how a company runs, how teams collaborate, and how to turn every experience into a learning opportunity. She’s contributed to projects like traveler creation, kit building, and inventory management—gaining hands-on knowledge that will directly support her degree and future career goals. 🔦 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭: 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐯𝐢𝐧 𝐖𝐨𝐨 We’re proud to feature one of our Mechanical Engineering Technology interns from the Rochester Institute of Technology, who joined KIHOMAC through his school’s co-op program. His work has supported projects like ECOLBE, Liberty, and a SBIR—building 3D models in SOLIDWORKS and contributing to improvements for systems such as the C-5 Galaxy’s raft ejection system. He credits the experience with expanding his understanding of engineering workflows, interdepartmental coordination, and industry standards. 🔦 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭: 𝐃𝐫𝐞𝐰 𝐆𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 Over the next few days, we will be posting intern spotlights to celebrate 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐲, starting with Drew Gable! Drew is currently interning at KIHOMAC, where he’s contributing to the development of an 𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 with a focus on 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐬 𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 and 𝐫𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. Soon, Drew will begin his studies in 𝐌𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 at 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐞 𝐌𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐧 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲. With previous experience in airborne countermeasures, he saw this internship as an exciting opportunity to expand on what he’s already learned. Drew shares: “Internships are an amazing opportunity to learn things that don’t come up in school. Even seemingly mundane tasks can offer valuable lessons and unexpected professional growth.” Through his time here, Drew has gained valuable experience in 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬, and the critical importance of defining requirements early in a project.
