It's one thing to talk about the potential of #AI in #education. It's another to build it in an hour with the best. That was the theme of our #TechWeekChicago at Innovare. We were honored to be selected for Google’s first-ever AI sprint, where our team Mingxing Li and Kyle Glasper, supported by Arpit Agrawal from Elastiq, built a new AI agent for education leaders in 60 minutes. The experience underscored our belief that with the right partners, we can accelerate progress in ways we never thought possible. A huge thank you to the incredible team at Google for Startups for selecting us and making this possible: Danny Navarro, Victoria Wirtala, Brittney Glass, and Hannah Curran, your support is invaluable. And to Tony Ruiz from the Customer Engineering team and Clara Buenker from the AI Go-to-Market team, we're excited for the road ahead. But technology is only as good as the problem it solves. That’s why the cornerstone of our week was a design workshop with Shayla Cornick Andrew Vollavanh Sana Karim from Digital Promise and partnership with Michele Meredith from the Gates Foundation. Together, we refined the tools that will soon empower leaders at Chicago International Charter School, EPIC Academy, and Roosevelt High School and Chicago Public Schools This is what it's all about: grounding innovation in the real-world needs of our schools. The week was also a powerful reminder of the community that fuels this work, starting with a dinner hosted by Goodie Nation and Google for Startups, bringing together alumni founders to share insights and build connections. A heartfelt thank you to our brilliant Innovare team members who led these efforts—Nabiha Ahmed and Noah Wainwright on Design, and Adrian J. (AJ) DeLeón, M.Ed. Last week we hosted our first ever Google for Startups Gemini API Sprint during TechChicago Week with our friends at 1871! The Sprint, a half day workshop for founders to get hands on with Google AI, was a bit of an experiment for us - we didn't really know how it would land, we just knew founders wanted a better sense on how tools like AI Studio can be helpful. We made apps to demystify Gen Z slang (helpful to better understand my two nieces) and agents to improve customer service processes. After demos and a working sessions with Googlers, we enjoyed tasty treats and cocktails, crafted by Gemini 🍹 A huge shoutout to the Chicago startup community for their incredible turnout. It was fantastic to reconnect with old friends and meet so many new faces, working on truly impactful projects like tracking whale migration movements and connecting local food sources to hospitals. We were also surprised (but thrilled!) to welcome founders who came in from California, Nebraska, Texas, Michigan, Montana, D.C., Washington, Virginia, and Missouri to be a part of the action. We'd love to do more of these so be on the lookout! ✨
