The High Court of Justice on Monday approved the army's request to seal off part of the East Jerusalem house belonging to the family of a terrorist who gunned down eight students at the Mercaz Harav yeshiva in Jerusalem last March.

Judge Miriam Naor ruled in favor of a petition by Israel Defense Forces, which called for the court to legitimatize the demolition or sealing off of terrorists' homes.

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Barak have announced their support for the demolition of Jerusalem terrorists' homes after a string of terror attacks were perpetrated in the capital by residents of East Jerusalem.

In recent years, however, Israel has refrained from razing homes in East Jerusalem.

Alaa Abu Dhaim shot and killed seven teenage boys and one 26-year-old, and wounded nine others, when he burst into the Mercaz Harav seminary in Jerusalem's Kiryat Moshe neighborhood and opened fire in the library.

The High Court issued a temporary injunction in September prohibiting the Israel Defense Forces from demolishing Abu Dhaim's home in the Jabel Mukaber neighborhood of East Jerusalem, arguing that part of the house was rented out to foreigners.
