Carbon County Polling Locations - Updated 3-15-2025

We wanted to alert you to a potential smishing campaign reported by one county. Based on available information, it appears that longtime registered voters are receiving text messages from “Allvote.com” indicating that there is a problem with their voter registration and urging them to take action to update their status. The county was able to secure a copy of the text message (copied below).

Opportunistic bad actors may attempt to use this campaign season to send phishing or smishing emails/texts like the one described above. Therefore, voters should not click on links unless they are certain that the message is from a credible source, and they should never provide personal identifying information in response to such a message.
You can also find some helpful information about avoiding social engineering and phishing attacks on CISA’s website.

New Voting Systems

The Pennsylvania Department of State is requiring all counties replace their current voting systems with voter verifiable paper trail equipment by the 2020 Presidential Primary Election. Carbon County is one of only a few Pennsylvania counties that will meet the mandate early. Voters will be using a new method of voting in Carbon County for the November 5, 2019 Municipal Election. Paper ballots and an Optical Scan Tabulator will replace the AccuVote Touch Screen voting machines that have been used in Carbon County Elections since 2006. Carbon County selected a precinct scan voting system by Dominion Voting Systems. The Image Cast Precinct Scanner, or ICP, records and tabulates votes from voter marked paper ballots. The Image Cast X Ballot Marking Device is ADA compliant and insures that voters with disabilities can independently cast their ballot.
