How do I run WordPress locally?

Install Studio and add a site. WordPress runs on your computer with its own native PHP runtime and SQLite, so there is no Docker or database server to set up. You get a full local WordPress site with wp-admin, WP-CLI and phpMyAdmin.

How do I use AI with WordPress?

Ask Studio Code, the agent built into Studio, or connect your own, such as Claude Code, Codex or Cursor. The agent creates a local WordPress site, builds a block theme, writes the content and checks the result in a browser. You review it, then push it live.

Is Studio an AI website builder?

Yes, for WordPress. Describe the site you want and Studio Code builds a real WordPress site, with a block theme and pages you can edit in the site editor. Keep it local or push it live when it’s ready.

Do I need a WordPress.com account?

Not for local sites or the CLI. You need a free WordPress.com account for Studio Code, preview sites and sync.

Which platforms are supported?

The app runs on macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel), Windows (x64 and ARM) and Linux (x64 and ARM). The CLI installs with one command on the same platforms.

Can I export my theme?

Yes. The theme is a normal block theme in your site’s wp-content folder. Copy it, zip it, or export the whole site as an archive or just the database.

Does it work with my own agent?

Yes. Plugins and an MCP server give Claude, Codex, ChatGPT and Cursor the same WordPress tools and skills that Studio Code uses. Your existing plan covers it.

Is Studio free?

Yes. The app, the CLI, local sites, import and export are free and open source. Studio Code starts with free AI credits, and you can buy more if you need them.

Can I use Studio without AI?

Yes. Studio is a complete local WordPress development environment on its own, and every AI feature is optional.

What does the AI actually produce?

A block theme and a WordPress site with real pages and posts. Everything is made of blocks you can edit in the site editor. There is no separate app to maintain.

Where can I host my site?

Anywhere that runs WordPress. Studio can push straight to WordPress.com and Pressable, and an export works with any other host.

Do I need Docker?

No. Studio runs WordPress with its own native PHP runtime and SQLite. There are no containers or database servers to manage, unless you choose to connect MySQL.
