Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/35.0.1916.114 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: Animated Favicons (animated GIFs) are not properly supported: they show only the first frame of the animation What is the expected behavior? Animated Favicons shoud be properly supported What went wrong? Animated Favicons are not supported. Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: 35.0.1916.114 Channel: stable OS Version: 12.04 Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 13.0 r0 Sample URL: http://lamers.art.pl/start.php (favicon: http://lamers.art.pl/fawikonka_a.gif) 2014-06-25 10:40 GMT+02:00 <chromium@googlecode.com>: Unable to reproduce the issue on Windows 8 OS - chrome version 35.0.1916.114 (Official Build 270117) m and canary 38.0.2067.2 (Official Build 279432). Please find the screenshot for reference. Observing the same behavior with firefox browser also. Can you please elaborate what exactly is the issue you are mentioning about. I tested in on Linux. Animated favicons are not animated in tab bar. They are animated in tab bar in Firefox. Can you attach screenshots of how this is shown on Chrome and Firefox as I am unable to reproduce the issue. Screenshot does not show the problem, as it is animation we're talking about here. So I created small screencast: we can see firefox where favicon animates, and chrome where it is static.
Able to reproduce the issue on chrome35.0.1916.153 stable, chrome 36.0.1985.103 beta and chrome 38.0.2084.0 unstable channels. Also the issue exists since M16(16.0.912.77).
Still reproducible on Linux using M65. Adding Mac and Windows as this issue was reproducible on those OSes in Issue 525023 .
