TV's Endearing Enchantress in all 254 Episodes! Ranked one of the Top 50 Television Shows of All Time! A young man and a young woman meet, begin dating, fall in love and get married. What more could anyone want or expect? Well, when the young woman is a witch it can make for an interesting and complicated relationship.
Elizabeth Montgomery is Samantha Stevens, a witch who decides to try living a mortal's life as a suburban housewife to her ad-executive husband Darrin. Dick York portrayed her loving husband for the first five seasons, and was replaced by Dick Sargent for the final three of the series. Samantha swears off using witchcraft, which doesn't sit well with her mother Endora (Agnes Moorehead), who sees her son-in-law 'Derwood' as a hindrance.
The Stevens household has one bizarre event happening after another, usually caused by Endora or one of Samantha's other magically-inclined relatives. Through it all, Darrin and Samantha make the best of everything and get to share their life with their two children, Tabitha and Adam. This top-ranked sitcom was enjoyed by it's audience for eight seasons. So sit back, relax and let Samantha's nose twitches entertain you! Contains the original broadcast versions.
One month ago we
had the scoop about Mill Creek Entertainment's plans to re-release
Bewitched - The Complete Series on DVD this coming
October 6th. They'll put all 8 seasons of the classic show onto 22 discs (they had initially said "24," but apparently that disc count has been revised), priced at $69.98 SRP. The studio is now verifying that these are the original broadcast versions, and they say exactly that on the package cover. You can see that for yourself, because we've got the a picture of that packaging for you below:
CLARIFICATION (8/25): Some of our readers have taken the studio's wording of "original broadcast versions" on the boxes and descriptions for their upcoming re-releases of both
Bewitched and
I Dream of Jeannie to mean that these would include the original sponsor openings and closings to the episodes, and anything else along those lines. Mill Creek Entertainment has been in touch with us to clarify that this wording was chosen, "
to create a point of differentiation between our Complete Series releases of these titles compared to Sony's. The difference with ours is that we include the B&W; seasons of each show (Seasons 1 & 2 for BEWITCHED and Season 1 for JEANNIE) whereas Sony included the colorized episodes for those seasons...[there are]
no special features or advertiser tags." That was our assumption here at TSoD all along, but we give MCE our appreciation for clearing that up with those few fans who might have assumed it meant something more.
