Mondo Narco

Named after its founder Phillip Weiss, Mondoweiss (co-maintained by Adam Horowitz) is one of the most invaluable sites in the blogosphere, a blast of sanity and moral suasion against the prevailing demonization of anything and anyone perceived as anti-Israel. (Here is its mission statement.) Whether it's the demolition of Palestinian homes to make room for Israeli settlers, Harvard's honoring of Martin Peretz, the usual suspects laying down a drum track for military strikes against Iran, or the plight of Gaza, Mondoweiss covers it all within the sweep of its lighthouse beam.

Mondoweiss is holding a fundraiser and is one quarter shy of its modest goal and needs--especially modest when you consider how much money is being shoveled by conservative donors into a shiny latrine such as RightNetwork--so why not consider making a donation?

I donated a small amount last week, so it's not like I'm asking you to contribute while my wallet sits tight, locked inside Jack Benny's underground vault. (A reference probably lost on many younger readers, who lie awake at night trying to imagine the riches of embarrassment Jackass 3D will hold.)

Not being a corporate conservative fearmongering Tea Party pimping global-warming denier slick bastard, I also had to settle for a small but sincere donation to Al Giordano's The Field via its Fund for Authentic Journalism. Al is building his own scrappy guerrilla network of intrepid journalists, like Lou Grant leading a laptop insurgency, if Lou had hair, knew his way around Mexico, and had a nimble command of football analogies. (Lou Grant: another reference lost on The Young, though I'm sure not lost on Al.)

And what a clarion slogan his latest project has.
