I am supportive of all these independent plays, but given the ninety-seven layers of coordination-without-coordinating it requires to pay off I really think it would be simpler to just broaden the tent and bring back Democrats with Baucus/Landrieu/Nelson-style ideologies.

The new Democratic strategy could be...not running a Democrat?

Is that even possible as long as DSA exists anywhere in the country?

You are a moderate conservative. So of course you want the Democratic Party to include more moderate conservatives. Luckily for us, there is no appetite for that among actual left leaning people. Why don’t you try to pull the GOP back towards the center instead?

I don’t see the Democrats returning to moderation any more than the Republicans. The gerrymandering has created the primary election dominance that has made the parties more extreme. It’s time for independent moderates.
