The average American can’t name two things about Puerto Rico that aren’t on Wikipedia but will confidently assert that its independence is not viable.
And look, it’s ok not to know things. The ignorance is colonialism’s fault too! But a dose of humility wouldn’t hurt.

Washington supported an independent America before it was independent and before a majority of colonist supported our independence.
