The race for FL-22, Florida’s the newly redrawn House district courtesy of the 2020 census, is shaping up to be quite the GOP shitshow.
In one corner you have a crypto-bro-turned-wannabe-politician Michael Carbonara who loaned his campaign $3.7 million and then turned around and invested $1.935 million of it in his own crypto company, Ibanera Crypto Wallet… for which he’s paid his FinTech company, Ibanera LLC $21,637 in “investment bank services fees.”
The Carbonara campaign has reported $322,060 in “permissible losses” and $2.035 million in returns from the crypto investment.
But none of those returns has been used to repay the debts owed by the campaign which for some reason have ballooned to $4.526 million.
And then in the other corner you have Belinda Keiser, wife to Arthur Keiser, founder of Keiser University- a private University in Florida that spent decades as a scammy for-profit degree mill and then rode the predatory college rebranding wave in 2012 and emerged as a nonprofit scammy degree mill. (Arthur’s own 98 year old mama sued him and Belinda in 2020 for scamming her out of millions.)
Belinda, who serves as Keiser University’s Vice Chancellor and has a net worth of between $250-$450 million, didnt enter the race until this April but she wrote her campaign a check for $3 million and because she’s well known in the area from all her other political activities through the decades, seems to be taking the lead.
Florida-man politics constantly outdoing itself

As the saying goes....We aren't voting our way out of this mess.
This is a prime example of why politics in this country is hopeless. Because it's just another scam for criminals to try out. Like sampling different food at a buffet "Ooooh, I haven't tried that one yet! That looks good!"
