Knee pain and sleep apnoea are the first non-weight endpoints. The one that matters most for long-term public health is still open: obesity-related cancer incidence. Observational data suggests a large effect; no randomised trial has been designed to test it yet.
The part people will sleep on: knee pain and sleep apnea improved too, in two trials nested inside TRIUMPH-1. That's a lot more than a weight-loss drug. Side effects led 11.3% to stop at the top dose vs 4.9% on placebo. TRIUMPH-2 hits EASD tonight.
