If Germany, or any other EU state, had truly wanted Britain in the EU, they would not have perfomatively sent David Cameron away empty-handed from the 2016 renegotiation. They were readier to lose their second-largest economy than to allow the slightest return of powers.

It was exactly that meeting that convinced me that we could do it better on our own, regardless of how it's turned out I still think we made the right decision. They essentially laughed our PM out of a meeting like his concerns didn't matter & it showed all they cared about was💵
The EU member states made it quite clear at the time that they didn’t need us ‘Little Englanders’ and we won’t be missed. Why should we want to go back to them when their economies are in the shit and all they’ve ever done is treat us with disdain?
