1) 🧵 Recently, there have been tense standoffs between protestors & the security forces due to the proposed construction of the Siang Upper Multipurpose Project (SUMP). This has also led to intense arguments online.

Proponents for the dam claim concerns due to the Medog 60 GW hydro project being built by China upstream in the Yarlung Tsangpo gorge in Tibet.

Opposition, mainly local-led by the Adi people of the Siang claim immense loss of culture & livelihood that the SUMP project might bring to their heartland.Namcha Barwa peak near Pé, Tibet at the site of the proposed holding dam for the Medog project.
2) I spent a few hours scouring the Chinese social space last year to bring out more details about the 60 GW Medog project. I think this is the right time to post.

The specifics of this project are severely lacking on the Indian media, and as a result, unpaid OSINT researchers like us need to do the needful.

Here is what the Chinese netizens guesstimate.......Image
3) Keen-eyed observers noticed images of a project plan during the inauguration of the hydropower project near Mainling, Tibet in July 2025.

I've added translation to the technical aspects of the commentary made by the analysts. Image

Apple is quietly hoping you never learn everything AppleCare+ actually covers.

Most people think AppleCare+ does one thing: fix your cracked screen for cheaper. $29 screen repair instead of $329. That’s it. That’s the pitch. And based on that single feature millions of people decide it’s not worth the monthly cost.

They never learn that AppleCare+ covers: unlimited accidental damage incidents (not just two per year anymore), free battery replacement when capacity drops below 80%, the charging cable and power adapter that came in your box, Express Replacement Service that sends you a new device BEFORE you mail your broken one back, same-day repairs in most major cities worldwide, your Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard under your iPad’s plan, theft and loss coverage that replaces a stolen iPhone for a $129 deductible, priority 24/7 access to Apple support by chat or phone, and every Apple software issue on every device the plan covers.

But the one most people miss entirely: AppleCare One launched in 2025 lets you cover devices you already own, up to four years after purchase. The 60-day purchase window everyone stresses about? AppleCare One blows past it. That iPhone 14 you bought in 2022 without AppleCare? You can add it now.

And AppleCare One Family covers up to six people all their devices under a single plan starting at $49.99/month.

A family of four with 8 Apple devices paying for individual AppleCare+ plans is overpaying by $50-100/month.

Here are 12 things AppleCare+ does that most subscribers and most people who skipped it never knew 🧵
First the change most people missed: unlimited accidental damage.

The old AppleCare+: two accidental damage incidents per year. You cracked your screen in January and again in March? You were done for the year. Third drop? Full price.

The current AppleCare+: unlimited accidental damage incidents. No cap. Drop your phone five times in a year each repair is covered at the reduced service fee. There is no “you’ve used your claims” cutoff.

Most people who declined AppleCare+ or who still believe it’s limited to two incidents made their decision based on outdated information. The two-incident cap was the biggest argument against AppleCare+ for years. It’s gone.

Unlimited accidental damage protection. $29 for screen or back glass. $99 for other damage. As many times as you need it.

One feature change. One outdated assumption. Millions of people making the wrong decision based on information that’s no longer true.
1. Express Replacement Service get a new device BEFORE sending yours in.

This is the feature that changes the math for anyone who depends on their iPhone or iPad for work.

Standard repair: you drop off your broken device. Wait 1-5 days. Get it back repaired. During that time no phone.

Express Replacement Service: Apple sends you a replacement device immediately. You receive the new one. Transfer your data. Then send your broken device back in the same box.

You’re never without a phone. Not for a day. Not for an hour. The replacement arrives first. The broken device leaves second.

For anyone whose iPhone is their primary work tool business calls, client messages, two-factor authentication, mobile payments, banking being without a phone for 3-5 days isn’t an inconvenience. It’s a business disruption. Express Replacement eliminates it.

Available for iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch with AppleCare+.

Most AppleCare+ subscribers don’t know this exists until they need a repair and by then, they’ve already scheduled a Genius Bar appointment and cleared their calendar for the afternoon.

In today’s Vatnik Soup, we examine the ties of Donald Trump and his family to Russian intelligence operatives and the Kremlin. His current dealings with Putin may shock some people, but the pattern of collusion has been clear for more than a decade.

Umar Kremlev, close to Putin’s security circle, paid hundreds of thousands of dollars toward Trump Jr.’s May 2026 Bahamas wedding celebrations. Yes, he changed his name to sound more Kremlin, you can't make this shit up. They also hunted together in Mongolia in August 2026.

BREAKING NEWS 🚨: Gemini is retiring Gems this month and replacing them with Skills, which it builds from one chat and runs on its own, like a $60 per hour assistant you only have to train once.

Type "Create a skill based on these instructions:" and paste these 7:
1) /reply

"Name: Reply. Use when I paste a message I need to answer. I'll attach 5 messages I've written so you learn my voice. Write the reply in that voice, same length as the message I got, never longer. Answer every question they asked in the order they asked it. If I'm saying no, say it in the first line. Give me the reply only, nothing else."
2) /decode

"Name: Decode. Use when I paste or photograph a letter, bill, contract or email I don't fully understand. Build a table: what it says in one line, what they want from me, the deadline, the amount, and the one line that could cost me if I miss it. Under the table, the exact next step with the phone number or address from the document."

BREAKING: Sleep and neurology researchers confirm that "morning grogginess" in ADHD is actually severe Sleep Inertia—a state where the prefrontal cortex takes up to 60 minutes longer to restore blood flow and dopamine signaling after waking up than a neurotypical brain.

If waking up your ADHD child (or yourself) at 7:00 AM feels like trying to wake up a hibernating bear who wants to fight everyone in the house, here is the science of why:
1. Understand the "Sub-Cortical Boot-Up Lag"
When a neurotypical alarm goes off, their brain transitions from delta/theta sleep waves to alert beta waves in minutes.
In an ADHD brain, the conscious thinking center stays half-asleep in thick brain fog for up to an hour—meaning when you rip the blankets off at 7:05 AM and start barking a 4-step checklist, you are yelling at a brain that hasn't finished booting up its operating system yet.
2. Why morning yelling ruins the entire school day before 7:30 AM
When a brain in severe sleep inertia gets hit with stress and hurry, it skips alert focus and jumps straight into fight-or-flight adrenaline to wake up—resulting in tears, slammed doors, and refusal to get dressed.

NESO is playing with fire.
Disconnected leadership and optimistic modelling are putting Britain’s electricity security at risk. New analysis of frequency data, the Eversheds report, and the Winter Outlook. A thread 🧵(1/12) Image
The Eversheds investigation into whistleblower claims found no evidence of deliberate interference or record suppression. But it did find high stress in the control room, missing logs, and a “significant disconnect” with senior leadership who “do not fully appreciate” the pressures of keeping the lights on. (2/12)
Control room staff told investigators that public statements claiming the system was “not at risk” on 23 June misrepresented reality. Frequency was outside normal operating limits for hours, with multiple constraint breaches and limited mitigation options.

The blocking of @sabeer’s video on the Modi-Adani 'friendship' is disappointing, especially given how effectively it brings together a complex story. It raises an important question: what does this relationship mean for public policy, public resources, and the concentration of corporate power?

We, at @newslaundry, have investigated two parts of this labyrinth. Here are our two bits.

A long thread. 🧵 (I promise, it's worth the scroll. The documents do the talking.)

But first, kudos to Sabeer for bringing these questions to a wider audience.
1/ Since 2018, Adani Group entities have participated in 26 insolvency bids in India. They have won 16 — a success rate of 61.5%. That is nearly three out of every five bids.

But the numbers tell only part of the story.
2/ Across these 16 acquisitions, creditors had admitted claims of approximately ₹1.31 lakh crore. They recovered just ₹33,000 crore. That left a haircut of over ₹97,700 crore.

Our investigation examined the bidding processes, the decisions taken by creditors, and some unusual turns in how these assets changed hands.

Two software engineers vacate identical ₹85,000/month 3BHK flats in Bengaluru after a 3-year lease.

Both deposited ₹4.5 Lakhs in security deposit.
Both have moving trucks packed on the street below and flights to catch in 4 hours.

At 11:00 AM, the landlord walks in with a clipboard:
"Walls have scuffs, tile grout is stained, wooden floor needs polish. Painting: ₹1.4L, carpentry: ₹50K, deep cleaning: ₹25K, plus 1 month vacancy loss: ₹85K. Deducting ₹3 Lakhs. You get ₹1.5 Lakhs in 45 days. Sign this move-out settlement slip, or security won't open the society gate for your moving truck."

Tenant A panics, argues for 2 hours, surrenders to the gate-lock threat, signs the slip, and loses ₹3 Lakhs.
Tenant B says 2 calm sentences.

20 minutes later, the landlord transfers 100% of the ₹4.5 Lakh deposit via IMPS with ₹0 deducted, and signs the gate pass.

Same society. Same ₹3 Lakh deduction. Same moving truck waiting.

The only difference?↓
The "Move-Out Day Ambush" trap.

Landlords in metro cities (Bengaluru, Mumbai, Gurgaon) exploit a brutal psychological squeeze:
Moving trucks run on hourly meters, packing boxes are on the street, and tenants have flights or new lease handovers in hours. You have zero bandwidth for a multi-week court dispute.

So landlords invent arbitrary maintenance damages or cite illegal "mandatory 1-month painting deduction" clauses hidden in old agreements.

The trap: The second you sign that move-out sheet or accept a partial refund, you legally validate their deductions as a "consensual settlement".

Tenant A surrendered to gate panic.
Tenant B knew property statutes, contract law, and police protocols.

Here is the 3-step legal playbook that forces landlords to return 100% of your deposit on the spot:
1. The "Reasonable Wear & Tear" Statutory Shield

Under Section 108(m) of the Transfer of Property Act, 1882:
A tenant is legally obligated to restore the property in the original condition, *reasonable wear and tear excepted*.

The law is unequivocal:
Microscopic wall scuffs, nail holes from photo frames, sun-faded paint, and grout discoloration are legally defined as "Normal Wear and Tear".
Periodic repainting is an owner's capital asset maintenance cost—it CANNOT be billed to a vacating tenant.

What about the "1-month painting deduction" clause in your rental agreement?
It is legally dead.
Under Section 2(46) of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, one-sided, unconscionable clauses that contradict statutory law are "Unfair Contract Terms" and void ab initio. A private lease agreement cannot override an Act of Parliament.
