How Google Pay privacy settings work
This setting is off by default. When you turn on, Google Pay uses this info to personalize your experienced based on:
- Your activity and some items, like purchases and payment methods
- Other info, like the place where you made a purchase
When this setting is off:
- Google Pay still works. You can still make contactless payments, but deals might not be as good.
- To make Google Pay work Google saves the info, but we don't use it to personalize your experience.

How we protect your data
- We never sell your info: Google Pay never sells your transaction history to other companies or shares it with the rest of Google to show you ads.
- We keep Google Account safe: Your Google Account can stop spam, malware, and viruses with its security features. This helps keep your Google Pay info safe from hackers.
How we handle your info
Google Pay and Google Wallet collect some info to make them work on your device. Some of this info uses Google Play services.
Info Google Pay may collectGoogle Pay may collect any of the following, depending on the services you use:
- Personal info, like your name, address, phone number, email address, and device ID or other identifiers: To set up and use cards in Google Pay, for fraud prevention, security and compliance, and how to manage your account, Google uses this info.
- Financial info, like your credit card or debit card number, what you have bought, credit info, and other financial info: To help you make safe purchases with Google Pay, Google uses this info.
- Your location: For fraud prevention, security, and compliance purposes when you add a new payment card or transit card to Google Pay, Google uses this info. Based on your Google Account settings, Google might also use your location info to provide location details in your receipts.
- How you use Google Pay, search history within the app, crash reports, diagnostics, and other app performance info: Google may use this info to track how users use the app.
- Installed apps: When you choose to link your bank app to Google Pay, Google uses this info.
- SMS Messages: To autofill one-time passwords, prevent fraud, and keep your account secure, Google uses this info.
- Photos, addresses, and contacts: To manage your Google Account, Google uses this info.
Info that Google Wallet may collect
Google Wallet may collect any of the following depending on the services you use:
- Personal info, like your name, address, phone number, email address, and device ID: To set up and use cards in Google Wallet and for things like fraud prevention, security, and management of your account, Google uses this info.
- Financial info, like your credit or debit card number, what you have bought, credit info, and other financial info: To help you make safe purchases with Google Wallet, Google uses this info.
- Your location: For fraud prevention, security, and compliance when you add a new payment card or transit card to Google Wallet, Google uses this info. Based on your Google Account settings, Google might also use your location to provide location details in your receipts.
- How you use Google Wallet, search history within the app, crash reports, diagnostics, and other app performance info: To track how users use the app, Google may use this info.
- Installed apps: When you choose to link your bank app to Google Wallet, Google uses this info.

Google Play services for payments collects and uses certain information to set up and offer payments-related services to users.

- Google Play services for payments always keeps payment info it stores safe on your devices Secure Element chip.
- Currently, Google Play services for payments works on devices with a Secure Element chip.
- Google Play services for payments is already installed on some Android devices. You can uninstall it, but this removes the app from your device. If you uninstall the app, some payment features in Google apps might not work as well. If you need to use those features again, you’ll be asked to reinstall the app. For example, Google Pay might not be able to show the current balance for your eMoney cards.
Manage & delete your Google Pay data
On the Google Pay website:
- Go to pay.google.com.
- On the left, click Settings.
- Under "Privacy settings," turn individual settings on or off.
- On your computer, go to account.google.com.
- On the left, select Payments & subscriptions.
- If you don’t find it, expand your browser window.
- Select Manage your Google Pay experience.
- You can delete the activity you no longer want on this page.
- To delete certain items: Next to the item, select More
Delete.
- To delete all items on a certain date: Next to the date, select Delete
.
- To delete all items: Select Delete
All time.
- To delete certain items: Next to the item, select More
To stop sharing your payment info with money transfer providers that work with Google:
- Go to the Google Wallet website.
- Click Settings
Manage payments data.
- Turn on "Revoke sharing your payment info with money transfer providers."
Tip: You'll need to agree to share this info again in order to send another money transfer.
