About automated calls from Google on behalf of customers

When customers use Google Search or Maps to connect with your business for various requests, Google might contact your business on their behalf through an automated phone call to complete the request. Businesses and customers can use this feature at no charge. When you share info related to customer requests, this can encourage customers to visit your business and buy your products and services.

Available customer actions

Important: The calls are monitored and recorded for quality assurance.

  • Book appointments: Customers can ask Google to book appointments with specific details like preferred time, service type, and party size. After Google confirms the details, it calls your business to book the appointment.
  • Check restaurant wait times: Customers can use Google to check the wait time for a table at a restaurant. Google might call your business to get this info and then share it with the customer.
  • Confirm price and availability of services: Customers can ask Google to confirm the pricing and availability of services they need from nearby local businesses. Google might call your business to confirm those service details. The customer then receives an email with quotes from service providers in their area, which could include your business if you share this info with Google.

Feature availability

Appointment bookings, checking restaurant wait times, and confirming service price and availability with Google automated calls are currently available only in the United States, except in these states:

  • Indiana
  • Louisiana
  • Minnesota
  • Montana
  • Nebraska

When Google calls for these purposes, it will avoid calling during late night or early morning hours. Google will only call you when:

  • A customer wants to book an appointment.
  • A customer wants to check the restaurant wait time.
  • A customer wants to confirm the price and availability of your services.
  • It needs to check your business hours.
  • It needs to check the status of in-demand inventory.

Tip: Google might also call or text your business to confirm the accuracy of your Business Profile details like operating hours and in-store inventory. Learn more about automated calls and texts from Google to confirm business info.
