Mark Diver liked thisMark Diver liked thisI'm incredibly proud to have led the 5th annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walks for the Women+Friends Champion Network at Integrated DNA Technologies, our largest walk initiative to date. 🎀 We organized 16 walks across every U.S. site, spanning multiple shifts and including remote employees, with more than 300 participants coming together in support of breast cancer education, advocacy, and research. Beyond the walks, we coordinated a donation to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation and shared educational resources focused on risk factors, screening, and the importance of early detection. A HUGE thank you to the onsite champions and volunteers (you know who you are, we couldn't have done this without you) and, of course, everyone who participated. Seeing colleagues come together across locations, functions, and shifts was a powerful reminder of what can happen when people rally around a cause that touches so many lives. 🩷 Remember: When breast cancer is found before it spreads, the 5-year survival rate is greater than 99%. So stay alert, get screened early, and talk to your doctor about your risk.

Mark Diver liked thisMark Diver liked thisNavigating the world of dangerous goods means learning a language which is includes many acronyms. These abbreviations are used extensively across international multimodal dangerous goods regulations, and each transport mode introduces additional acronyms unique to its own requirements. Here at Trident, we have more than 30 years experience teaching the dangerous goods language, helping learners build the knowledge and confidence needed to make complex terminology easier to understand and apply across all transport modes. Our expertise helps you quickly identify which regulations apply to each mode of transport and understand the key differences between them.

Mark Diver liked thisMark Diver liked thisIMDG Amendment 43-26 is out. Most operations will only be affected by a handful of the changes. The trick is knowing which handful. Last week on the blog: what Amendment 43-26 of the IMDG Code means for anyone shipping dangerous goods by sea. The key dates: ▪ 1 January 2027: 43-26 may be applied voluntarily ▪ 1 January 2028: 43-26 becomes mandatory and 42-24 is history The big changes are around vehicles: ▪ A new SP 980 requires a vehicle's safety to be assessed before it is offered for sea transport ▪ SP 961 and SP 962, which decide whether a vehicle is exempt, have been revised ▪ Placarding of CTUs carrying vehicles has been clarified and strengthened Beyond vehicles: new and amended UN entries, a revised EmS Guide, a refined split between Category A and B infectious substances, and changes to temperature monitoring in CTUs. Three questions to ask your team now: 1. Which of these changes touch our shipments? 2. What has to change in our procedures, markings and documentation? 3. Who needs retraining before 2027? Leave it until January 2027 and a twelve-month project becomes a January scramble, right when freight volumes and staff leave are least forgiving. Mark Diver liked thisMark Diver liked thisLast week I had the pleasure of delivering a 30 minute talk on behalf of Trident Safety Group for the Irish International Freight Association (IIFA), Lunch and Learn initiative. The subject I dealt with was: The Duty Chain: Responsibilities and Risk Mitigation in Air Cargo. My central point was a simple one. Air cargo Dangerous Goods compliance is one of the most important duties of the aviation supply chain. The shipper/consignor, the freight forwarder/carrier, the ground handler/acceptance agency/no carry operator and the airline/operator, each carry their own responsibilities under the UN & ICAO model regulations and they are all links in the duty chain. When any link assumes the one before it has done the work correctly, is when shipments may get snagged, rejected, turned away and/or investigated. When the assumption is "someone else has already checked this", may lead to the disruption to the safety of the supply chain. This assumption is behind most hidden, undeclared and mis-declared dangerous goods. A few figures that surprised the room: → 355 DG occurrences were reported to the IAA in 2025. Around 160 involved hidden, undeclared or mis-declared goods. → Batteries topped the list. Batteries (Cargo) alone accounted for 70. Common causes are lack of formal DG training, mis-communication of information pertaining to the shipment. Lack of awareness that regulations exist that govern the movement of dangerous goods by air, road, sea, rail, inland waterways etc. Competency-Based Training and Assessment (CBTA) for air is not guidance. It has been mandatory under ICAO since January 2023. The question I left to summarise the importance of one's duty in the chain was: What does a rejection actually cost you? There is the return to stand, the repack, the missed lane and the conversation with your client. Somebody always pays for it. The supply chain needs to understand that the "Someone", could be you. Our advice: If you are ever unsure of your own role in the Duty Chain - "Always ask an Expert" My thanks to @IIFA for hosting, and to everyone who joined us. #DangerousGoods #AirCargo #AviationSafety #Compliance#IIFA

Mark Diver liked thisMark Diver liked thisRecently, as part of my apprenticeship, I was given the opportunity to complete Carbon Literacy Training. I found the day highly insightful and came away with a greater understanding of sustainability and sustainable logistics 🌱🛻 Sustainability refers to the capacity to preserve natural resources and uphold ecological balance to promote the welfare of present and future generations. It involves interacting responsibly with the planet to avoid depleting resources, ensuring a healthy environment for all. Sustainable logistics refers to the practices and strategies in supply chain management that aim to minimize environmental impact while maintaining efficiency and profitability. In the logistics industry we can decarbonise through a combination of low emission technologies, optimised operations, and sustainable fuels. For example, the adoption of alternative fuels and electrical vehicles is critical. Although these solutions are currently viable for some transport, companies should invest in charging infrastructure and fleet management systems to support these transitions for longer, more widespread journeys. Mark Diver liked thisMark Diver liked this"We don't have the budget for this right now." Our GM John heard that line for ten years in IT security. He now hears it in dangerous goods transport, almost word for word. The budget never exists until there is a breach, a rejected shipment, an audit finding, or an incident. Then it might cost ten time the amount to fix something that might have been easily prevented. John's point is that there is no silver bullet. No single course, policy or audit makes an organisation safe and compliant. What works is layers: ▪ Education across your team, covering every mode your goods move by (road, sea and air), because a team trained in one mode has a blind spot in the other two ▪ Expert support you don't try to build in-house: making sure your processes are correct from the start, regular site audits to spot any gaps, and someone you can call if a tricky question comes up. Find the annual budget before you need it, not after. The alternative isn't cheaper; it just defers the cost and adds interest. 📄 Read John's full blog: https://lnkd.in/d5Rvpt6g Not sure where to begin?
