Migration and asylum
The European Commission develops and oversees common EU policy in the area of migration and asylum. This includes: the EU asylum system, legal migration, irregular migration and return, migration management in the Member States, migrant integration and statistics on migration to Europe.
Schengen
Schengen guarantees free movement to more than 450 million EU citizens, along with non-EU nationals living in the EU or visiting the EU as tourists, exchange students or for business purposes, anyone legally present in the EU.
Internal security
The European Commission plays a key role in shaping and implementing the EU’s internal security policies, ensuring that security is integrated into EU legislation and policies.

Networks
The DG for Migration and Home Affairs organises and supports networks where members exchange views and information on policies, such as: child sexual abuse, radicalisation, drugs, protection of critical infrastructure and migration.
Funding
