Summary

Routine instructions-janitor sync against release v0.93.5 (published 2026-10-25T17:17:17Z).

Documentation commits reviewed (since release, via GitHub MCP — local checkout is shallow)

  • faf1fa7 Bump MCPG to v0.5.0 and firewall to v0.29.0 (Bump MCPG to v0.5.0 and firewall to v0.29.0 #71957) — only touched .github/aw/actions-lock.json (generated) and workflow lock files. Checked .github/aw/enclaves.md's AWF/mcpg minimum-version statements (v0.28.9–v0.28.47, v0.4.15–v0.4.19): these are feature-gate minimums, still correctly below the new defaults, so no change needed.
  • 6f802cae Harden fetch-script portability and structured lint reporting (Harden fetch-script portability and structured lint reporting #71932) — touched docs/src/content/docs/reference/workflow-linters.md and schema files (audit.schema.json, logs-jsonl.schema.json). No .github/aw/*.md file references these schemas; no change needed.
  • 206d3a9 Return stage-aware partial results for MCP compile and audit timeouts (Return stage-aware partial results for MCP compile and audit timeouts #71886) — actionable: .github/aw/agentic-workflows-mcp.md documented this partial-result pattern for logs only, not for compile/audit.
  • a5ffb31 Detect missing step references in Actions/AW expressions (Detect missing step references in Actions/AW expressions #71926) — new built-in lint rule; .github/aw/debug-compilation.md already describes built-in AST lint generically (no per-rule enumeration), so no change needed.

Changes made

.github/aw/agentic-workflows-mcp.md (53 → 58 lines, well under its target):

  • Added a "Timeouts and partial results" section documenting that compile and audit reserve 5s before the caller's deadline (55s default budget), return partial: true/complete: false with a named failing stage on timeout, and include partial_results (completed workflows for compile, decoded report for audit) — matching docs/src/content/docs/reference/gh-aw-as-mcp-server.md.
  • Corrected the audit tool's parameter table: it previously documented only the deprecated run_id_or_url. Verified current behavior in pkg/cli/mcp_tools_privileged.go (AuditArgs) and updated to show run_ids_or_urls as the preferred multi-run (diff-mode) parameter, with run_id/run_id_or_url as single-run aliases (run_id_or_url deprecated).

Size audit

All .github/aw/*.md files are under their target line limits (largest is cli-commands.md at 402... actually under 400 cap; full wc -l reviewed, nothing over limit). No splitting required.

Duplication audit

No new duplication introduced; the added section is scoped to this one file and doesn't restate content from safe-outputs*.md or syntax*.md.

Steering

Checked comments on steering issue #72047 — none present, so no steer-tagged feedback to incorporate.

Document the stage-aware partial-result/timeout behavior for compile
and audit (added in #71886), and correct the audit tool's parameters
to reflect run_ids_or_urls as the preferred multi-run form, with
run_id/run_id_or_url as (deprecated) single-run aliases.
