Download image and pdf is having issues #45802

Open

Description

@asishPatnaik2000

Bug description

Download as image exports off-screen charts as blank/loading placeholders

On Superset 6.0.0, Download → Export as image only captures charts in the viewport. Charts below the fold appear blank or as loading placeholders.

Repro: Open a tall dashboard → don’t scroll → Export as image → lower charts are empty, or loading image is Coming or chart are overlapping each other

Same issue of chart overlapping is there in pdf also

Checklist

  • I have searched Superset docs and Slack and didn't find a solution to my problem.
  • I have searched the GitHub issue tracker and didn't find a similar bug report.
  • I have checked Superset's logs for errors and if I found a relevant Python stacktrace, I included it here as text in the "additional context" section.

    hi @asishPatnaik2000. I've been testing out 7.0.0rc2, but also have 6.1 running on our production instance. I was able to reproduce the issue on 6.1, but it looks to be fixed on 7.0.0rc2 (no release date yet for 7.0.0, rc3 is pending). I also found the PRs where the 2 issues you mentioned were fixed:

    Fixed on master by two PRs, neither of which is in a 6.x release:

    So this should clear up with 7.0.0. One current workaround for 6.x is to scroll through the whole dashboard once before exporting, that fixes the off-screen chart tables but doesn't quite fix the overlapping charts on PDFs.
