Reason: add MiniMax-M3.1-Flash to the existing MiniMax model catalog.

Summary

  • Add MiniMax-M3.1-Flash to the shared regional model catalog.
  • Record its context window, input modalities, reasoning efforts, default effort, and token pricing.
  • Extend catalog regression coverage for model ordering, capabilities, and regional parity.

Verification

  • make fmt-check
  • go vet ./...
  • go test ./internal/providermodelcatalog -run 'TestModelsAreProviderScoped|TestMiniMaxModelsExposeCurrentCapabilities|TestMiniMaxCNModelsMirrorInternational' -count=1
  • go test ./...
  • go run ./cmd/zero-release build
  • go run ./cmd/zero-release smoke
  • go run github.com/golangci/golangci-lint/v2/cmd/golangci-lint@v2.12.2 run --enable-only unused,ineffassign,staticcheck --new-from-rev=origin/main ./...
  • go run golang.org/x/vuln/cmd/govulncheck@v1.3.0 ./...
  • git diff HEAD --check

make lint-static still reports four pre-existing findings outside the touched package; the new-from-revision lint run reports zero issues.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Added MiniMax-M3.1-Flash to the curated model list for MiniMax and MiniMax CN, with a 1-million-token context window, tool calling, reasoning options, and text, image, and video input.
    • Added support for selecting reasoning effort levels from low to max when using this model, while preserving its maximum output token setting.

Walkthrough

The shared MiniMax catalog now includes MiniMax-M3.1-Flash and its declared capabilities. Anthropic requests now support adaptive thinking with a normalized reasoning effort for this model.

Changes

MiniMax-M3.1-Flash support

Layer / File(s) Summary
Catalog entry and validation
internal/providermodelcatalog/catalog.go, internal/providermodelcatalog/catalog_test.go
The catalog adds MiniMax-M3.1-Flash with its context window, capabilities, modalities, costs, and source. Tests check its listing, position, and declared capabilities.
Adaptive reasoning effort in Anthropic requests
internal/providers/anthropic/types.go, internal/providers/anthropic/provider.go, internal/providers/anthropic/provider_test.go
For MiniMax-M3.1-Flash, request construction uses adaptive thinking and sets output_config.effort when the trimmed effort matches a supported value. Tests check low and xhigh requests and confirm max_tokens remains unchanged.

The catalog addition and adaptive-effort support are mergeable. Adding max to the request-shape test would improve coverage of the model’s default effort.

The id, the 1M context, the $0.15/$0.60 pricing, the five effort levels with max as the default, and text, image and video input all match MiniMax's text-generation and pricing pages. The CN platform lists the model too. Two things:

  1. ToolCall is missing. M3 and M2.7 both set it, and MiniMax describes M3.1-Flash as built for tool use, so the picker shows this model without the tools badge the other two get.

  2. The efforts may not reach the model. The minimax preset talks to MiniMax's Messages-style endpoint, and Zero's adapter for it turns low, medium and high into thinking.budget_tokens and sends nothing for xhigh or max (thinkingBudgetForEffort). It never sends output_config.effort, which MiniMax documents as the effort field for that endpoint, and the same page says the model "requires adaptive thinking". The default works, because nothing is sent and MiniMax falls back to max. Could you check with a real key what happens through Zero when the effort is set to low and to xhigh? If low comes back 400, or both behave like max, the efforts list needs adapter support first, or should be left out for now.

Thanks for the review. I added the tools capability and updated the Messages adapter so MiniMax-M3.1-Flash sends adaptive thinking with output_config.effort for all five documented levels; low and xhigh are covered by request-shape regression tests. I ran formatting, vet, all tests, build, smoke, new-change lint, vulnerability scanning, and diff checks.

Follow-up Comments

Nitpick Add max to the MiniMax adaptive-effort test loop.

272-272: Trivial · Maintainability & Code Quality · Quick win

Add max to the MiniMax adaptive-effort test loop.

TestStreamCompletionUsesMiniMaxAdaptiveEffort covers low and xhigh only. The max value is accepted by miniMaxM31FlashEffort and is the catalog default for this model. If max is removed from that accepted-effort list, no test in the anthropic package fails, because no test sends max to the MiniMax model. Adding max to the loop covers that path. The existing assertions hold for max.

Suggested fix
-	for _, effort := range []string{"low", "xhigh"} {
+	for _, effort := range []string{"low", "xhigh", "max"} {

Review comment at @internal/providers/anthropic/provider_test.go at line 272:
Add "max" to the effort values iterated by
TestStreamCompletionUsesMiniMaxAdaptiveEffort so the test exercises MiniMax
adaptive effort with the catalog-default value, keeping the existing assertions
unchanged.
