We are using Apache License 2.0 as our default License, see https://www.apache.org/licenses/LICENSE-2.0.
The Apache License 2.0 makes sure that the user does not have to worry about infringing any patents by using the software. The user is granted a license to any patent that covers the software. Through an in terrorem clause, this license is terminated if the user sues anyone over patent infringement related to this software. This condition is added in order to prevent patent litigations. - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apache_License#Apache_License_2.0
ObsLab is a collection of hands-on observability labs designed to help developers and practitioners learn by doing.
The labs cover topics across Dynatrace and the broader observability ecosystem, including OpenTelemetry, log ingestion, release validation, performance testing, AI observability, Kubernetes, and application security.
-
obslab-otel-collector-data-ingest
Ingest logs, metrics, and traces using the Dynatrace OpenTelemetry Collector. -

obslab-live-debugger-otel
Explore live debugging and OpenTelemetry instrumentation.
-
obslab-release-validation
Use Grafana k6, Dynatrace business events, workflows, and Site Reliability Guardian to validate releases. -
obslab-jmeter
Explore integration between Apache JMeter and Dynatrace. -
obslab-k6
Stream Grafana k6 metrics into Dynatrace in a hands-on exercise.
obslab-log-problem-detection
Detect problems in logs with Dynatrace.
obslab-llm-observability
Build an LLM-powered application and explore its observability with Dynatrace.
obslab-predictive-kubernetes-scaling
Explore predictive auto-scaling for Kubernetes workloads.
obslab-unguard
Detect and block security vulnerabilities with Dynatrace.
In addition to the ObsLab exercises above, the Dynatrace organization contains several demonstration applications for different observability scenarios.
Use the table below to choose the demo environment that best fits your needs.
| Repository | Purpose | Best for | When to use |
|---|---|---|---|
easytrade |
Modern microservices-based demo application for showcasing Dynatrace capabilities | Product demonstrations, workshops, enablement, and end-to-end observability scenarios | Start here for a general-purpose Dynatrace demo environment |
easyTravel-Docker |
Dockerized version of the established easyTravel sample application | Existing easyTravel scenarios, legacy workshop material, and compatibility demonstrations | Use when existing content or integrations specifically depend on easyTravel |
opentelemetry-demo |
OpenTelemetry-based demo environment | OpenTelemetry education, instrumentation, interoperability, and standards-based observability scenarios | Use when OpenTelemetry is the primary focus of the demonstration |
obslab-llm-observability |
Hands-on application for exploring LLM observability | Generative AI, LLM observability, workshops, and experimentation | Use when the scenario specifically focuses on LLM or generative AI observability |
These demo environments are complementary rather than interchangeable. When creating a new demo scenario, extend an existing environment where practical rather than creating another standalone demo application.
