What else I should add about him? Are the obituaries not enough to add info on him? Give advice. VasileArsenie (talk) 21:05, 3 October 2026 (UTC)
- Hi there,
- I hope you are well. I have one request. Could you in your usual communication be a bit more civil as I believe "give advice" is a little WP:UNCIVIL considering that we are all volunteering.
- Some people are just not notable. I believe that sources from other parts of his life would establish notability. In British press (and I'd assume) in most press people pay for obituaries so they are not necessarily an indicator of notability. Although not necessary I do not believe that they fulfil WP:CREATIVE.
- I hope this helps and if you have any questions feel free to ask. Equivalent-Text2598 (talk) 21:14, 3 October 2026 (UTC)
- Hello, I wasn’t trying to be rude but It takes time to create an articles draft and then go through the wood-works of having to see what was wrong about it. Someone put him on notable deaths section and he had an Arabic Wikipedia section that had articles from Iraq’s news articles talking about him. I didn’t want to use a stub so I had translate features for the articles.
- He was known in art circles but Iraq is a country with not much contemporary art representation, there’s a lot of people named Hadi Abas so it takes time to find info on him. He was creating art in the 1960s and 1970s up til age so it can be understood.
- Thank you ver much VasileArsenie (talk) 21:19, 3 October 2026 (UTC)
- Yeah no worries about the start, it is just important as it can create very hostile threads etc. very quickly if not adressed.
- I know it is weird but different wikipedia's have different notability requirements.
- In terms of sources have you tried JSTOR?
- I am aware I am bit stricter with sourcing than others so feel free putting past another editor.
- Cheers. Equivalent-Text2598 (talk) 21:25, 3 October 2026 (UTC)
- I will try but JSTOR I’ve used for historical people or diplomats. Arabic is a hard language to translate with any machines on Google to find sources so there’s probably un-internet documented stuff that have never been scanned to pdfs.
- Also, how strict is Wikipedia English for notability? Are there any other language Wikipedias that are as strict or feasible. Maybe the German or Russian one I think because they cover a lot of people but I would see. I think as long as sources can be found and people can be connected to disambiguating and categories, they can be learned about by everyone.
- Thank you though. I don’t know everyone’s time zone so sometimes I type rapid fire cause I may not understand someone’s reasoning and then they get back to me at a time when I’m asleep. VasileArsenie (talk) 21:30, 3 October 2026 (UTC)
- No worries, again I might have been too strict, feel free to ask someone else for a review etc. Also, English wikipedia is probally the strictest as it has the most contributors and articles. For example translated articles from the French one which is pretty big usually have notability issues. Equivalent-Text2598 (talk) 21:32, 3 October 2026 (UTC)
Hi VasileArsenie . New Page Patrol (NPP) where Equivalent-Text2598 works is basically a binary system: Keep or Delete, or in some cases: Move to draft. The extremely heavy workload at NPP dos not generally permit providing advice to article creators and it's not within their remit, but the patroller has offered you some friendly tips. The correct channel for help is the WP:Teahouse, or simply submit your draft for review by the AfC team where you will be given more feedback. - @Kudpung Thanks for your help.
- I didn't pass probationary due to one article being accepted when it shouldn't have. Would it be reasonable as a cool-off to re-apply in january.
- Cheers. Equivalent-Text2598 (talk) 13:26, 23 October 2026 (UTC)
Hello, @Equivalent-Text2598, just returned from school. I'm confused with your comment in my draft about Daniel Shuck. All of the books I've sourced talking about Shuck talks about him in detail. I'm assuming you didn't saw the references, which I've sourced many times. Could you please clarify what's wrong? Thanks. ꕥ= DoNothingEveryday =ꕥ 12:25, 5 October 2026 (UTC)
- Hi there,
- I am not saying it would not pass but, I think it needs more secondary sources.
- Hope this helps. Equivalent-Text2598 (talk) 12:50, 5 October 2026 (UTC)
- Oh, okay. Apologies for the misunderstanding. @Equivalent-Text2598. I thought you were implying that the sources are not talking about it in detail, not that it's only primary sources. As for the primary sources problem, I've exhausted to find sources about him, and the only sources that talk about him in detail are the ones that were published under publishing companies owned by the United Brethren. I added template {{Primary Sources}} because of that. Do you any suggestions? ꕥ= DoNothingEveryday =ꕥ 12:59, 5 October 2026 (UTC)
