As Netflix prepares to release another season of its mixed-faith Jewish rom-com Nobody Wants This, leading man Adam Brody is using his platform to speak up for Palestinians.
The 2x Golden Globe-nominated actor emphasized his support for “Free Palestine” as the topic of Israel’s attacks on Gaza came up in a recent interview ahead of Season 3 of Nobody Wants This, arriving Oct. 22 on Netflix.
“Between COVID, a second Trump term, Israel-Gaza, it’s really brought out some different beliefs that I was ignorant to, and then disheartened by,” he told GQ about Hollywood’s conservative pivot.
Brody admitted that “truthfully,” the Israel-Hamas conflict has not come up for him in recent interviews, despite his role as Rabbi Noah Roklov in the Erin Foster-created series. “I have spoken a lot about it privately. I haven’t spoken much about it publicly,” he noted.

“Put me down as thinking it’s a genocide. Put me down as wanting a free Palestine,” said Brody. “It’s awful that it’s taken so much death and misery, but it does feel like it’s reaching a breaking point that it should have a while ago. I’m hopeful that another administration can really do some good and correct some of these policies that are helping that situation be as awful as it is.”
In Nobody Wants This, agnostic podcaster Joanne Williams (Kristen Bell) begins an unexpected romance with Rabbi Noah Roklov (Brody), which shakes both their families as Joanne immerses herself in Noah’s culture and decides to convert to Judaism.
Brody’s comments come after several of his Hollywood peers were among around 100 arrested outside the United Nations General Assembly in New York City, where they were protesting the arrival of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday.
THANK YOU ADAM!
Thank you so much, Adam Brody!
This comment section shows everything that is wrong with the west right now – hypocrisy, double standards and performative behaviour.
Shame.
Another person who makes a living pretending to be someone else, which somehow makes them think their opinion is relevant. It’s not.
He was asked a loaded question and Brody answered it with courageous honesty. That you don’t like his answer is irrelevant. Sit down.
Brody was being interviewed by GQ, being answering questions asked by the interviewer and therefore giving his opinion. What part of that don’t you understand? Maybe stay off of Entertainment Industry-specific sites like Deadline. It might be less triggering for you.
Proud of him
He should go to Palestine meet Hamas leaders work with them
The suffering of Palestinian civilians is heartbreaking, and wanting it to end is something most of us share. But saying “Free Palestine” with no mention of October 7th or the antisemitism Jewish people are facing right now feels like following a trend rather than taking a thoughtful position. For someone who plays a rabbi, that omission is hard to ignore. You can acknowledge pain on both sides. Choosing not to is a missed opportunity and shows poor character.
So you agree with Free Palestine, but you want to argue semantics. People can hold 2 thoughts without needing to constantly express them so you can feel better about it. The idea that a Free Palestine means anything other then stop friggin killing everyone is really crazy to me. Sure fine, the attack was terrible. The response was worse.
To be clear, I agreed that war crimes don’t justify war crimes, nothing more. And it’s not semantics. You just said you can hold two thoughts without constantly expressing them, but that’s the whole point. A public statement from someone with a big platform only expressed one. Glad you acknowledge the attack was terrible. I’ll ask again, though: nothing to say about the antisemitism Jewish people are dealing with right now?
When people in the west say “Free Palestine” (or “Free Congo”, “Free Cuba”) that includes elections.
The last free election in Palestine was in 2005. That means that any Palestinian under the age of 38 has never voted for Hamas to represent them.
Thank you 🙏🏻
So your position is: Oct 7 justifies genocide? Does that mean the Gaza blockage, the mass killings at the March to return, the Protective Edge mission that lead to over 2000 Palestinian casualties justifies Oct 7? Do you mention these atrocities when you ask people to lament Oct 7?
I don’t think war crimes justify war crimes. But, hey, that’s just me.
Free Palestine.
