Hamas is already challenging the roadmap agreement announced by Gaza’s Board of Peace, saying it will disarm only after Israel’s withdrawal from Gaza.
“We will not take any steps regarding disarmament before Israel withdraws from the Gaza Strip. We will not implement any measures if the Israeli forces do not fulfill their obligations under the agreement,” senior Hamas official Ghazi Hamad said.
The BoP’s announcement stipulates that the IDF’s withdrawal will occur after Hamas disarms. “Hamas officially has committed to an actionable plan for relinquishing all its weapons, which will be followed by Israeli withdrawal from Gaza.”
“The issue of weapons is linked to other issues, such as the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip and reconstruction. Israel will not interfere in the matter of storing weapons; the National Committee will handle this task,” Hamad said.
