🇮🇱🇲🇦🇪🇸 Back in April, Israel's Ynet ran an op-ed by Moroccan journalist Amine Ayoub basically saying Israel should help Morocco "take back" Ceuta and Melilla...
The pitch: Let's REWARD Morocco for the Abraham Accords, and PUNISH Spain for its stance on Palestine and for clashing with Trump (on base access and missed NATO spending targets).
Trump had already called Spain “terrible,” and a Pentagon email even floated suspending them from NATO altogether.
NATO’s own rules don’t cover the enclaves as they sit in Africa, essentially leaving them exposed.
The article leaned hard on Michael Rubin’s EARLIER piece, from March.
Rubin called Ceuta and Melilla “occupied Moroccan territory” and floated a new Green March: the same mass civilian flood Morocco launched in 1975.
Send people, bulldozers if needed, walk in unarmed, raise the flag. Simple as that.
He noted the enclaves are already a "soft spot," because migrants rush the fences all the time.
Ynet said Israel, now a formal military partner of Morocco, could help by:
• calling Spain’s presence colonial
• lobbying Washington to side with Rabat
• pointing out Spanish “hypocrisy” on territorial issues
No need for tanks, just sustained demographic and diplomatic pressure.
Fast-forward to yesterday. Up to 60,000 people crossed into Ceuta in about 24h, more than half the city’s population.
That’s the EXACT kind of mass pressure those pieces were talking about...
