This £50 K-beauty advent calendar 'could be a gamechanger for your skincare routine'

I got into the Christmas spirit just a tad early and opened each box, in order, to see how this calendar compares to other Korean beauty calendars at Boots and Selfridges. One thing I really wanted to see was how inclusive this calendar is, and whether the skincare is targeted at one specific skin type or age range. I also considered value for money and the festive feel.

What we love: Viral brands like Medicube, Biodance and Beauty of Joseon are hidden within the calendar. There's a good variety of products, and it's very affordable.

Take note: For a calendar with 12, not 24, boxes, you’d want all the products to be full-sized. Almost half of the products are travel-sized, which feels less premium. While there is a simplistic charm to the packaging, it's not very festive. Many other beauty calendars come in much more luxurious boxes, many of which you can keep afterwards.

For me, the standout product is the full-size Medicube Zero Pore Pad – a product that has gone viral for all the right reasons. These exfoliating pads deeply cleanse clogged pores, and the AHA fruit complex, salicylic and lactic acids, helps to minimise the appearance of pores and excess oil, leaving the skin polished, clear and glowing.

The Beauty of Joseon serum is another highlight. Powered by a blend of skincare heavyweights like ginseng extract and retinal, this serum promotes faster cell turnover, as well as brightens, firms and improves the appearance of any darkness or puffiness.

There is a range of products, including sunscreens, serums and a mask. The products are not too specific to skin type or age range – all just gentle and kind on the skin.

Overall, I would've liked to have had either more products or for everything to have been full-sized. While travel-size products are great if you’re someone buying the calendar to try out some Korean skincare, as someone who is already in that world, receiving travel-size products I already own takes away the luxury. However, 13 high-quality products for £50 instead of over £140 is still very impressive.
