AWS announces new innovations for building AI agents at AWS Summit New York 2025
AWS just announced Amazon Bedrock AgentCore at the AWS Summit New York 2025, introducing a comprehensive suite of seven core services that helps organizations deploy AI agents securely at enterprise scale.
As Swami Sivasubramanian , AWS VP for Agentic AI, explains: "It's a tectonic change... It upends the way software is built." Companies like Itaú Unibanco, Innovaccer, and Box are already utilizing AgentCore, which offers up to 8-hour workload support—the longest runtime in the industry—with complete session isolation.
To further boost agentic AI, AWS also announced it's launching a dedicated AI Agents and Tools category in AWS Marketplace and investing an additional $100M in its Generative AI Innovation Center. Early success stories include Warner Bros. Discovery Sports Europe enhancing racing commentary and BMW managing network issues for 23M+ connected vehicles.

How Amazon is helping power America's AI future
Amazon joined President Donald Trump and industry leaders at the Pennsylvania Energy and Innovation Summit to discuss powering America's AI future. During a fireside chat with Senator Dave McCormick and Governor Josh Shapiro, AWS CEO Matt Garman discussed Amazon's previously announced $20 billion planned investment in Pennsylvania to expand data center infrastructure, highlighting the critical intersection of AI innovation and energy sustainability.
The investment includes significant support for the Susquehanna nuclear power plant and explores innovative solutions like small modular reactors (SMRs). This public-private partnership is expected to create 1,250 high-skilled jobs while pioneering sustainable solutions through nuclear energy partnerships and efficient technologies.
Amazon-funded seaweed farm makes first-ever harvest at North Sea Farm 1
The first-ever harvest at North Sea Farm 1, the world's first commercial-scale seaweed farm located between wind turbines off the Netherlands coast, marks a significant advancement in seaweed farming innovation. This pioneering project, supported by Amazon's Right Now Climate Fund with €2 million in funding, demonstrates how offshore wind farm spaces can be utilised for seaweed cultivation.
The farm spans five hectares, and uses four 50-metre wide nets to grow the seaweed. Research partners, including Plymouth Marine Laboratory, Deltares, and Silvestrum Climate Associates are conducting comprehensive analyses to understand the degree to which seaweed grown in this unusual manner can potentially store and lock away carbon, as well as impacts on marine life. The harvested seaweed can be processed into various products, from textiles to food, without requiring land, fresh water, or fertilisers - showcasing how creative solutions can address resource production while advancing our understanding of whether or not this can help contribute to carbon mitigation.
