Imagine someone who perhaps uniquely deeply understands AI, where it is going, the boost it offers for scientific discovery and for human potential as well as the perils of mistakes, misinformation, misuse. Imagine if they could explain the field clearly, in plain language, engage in the tough questions and debate what's possible calmly and respectfully. What if they were stewarding leading edge research and development on the field, and working to bring it all to the world in applications for both extraordinary innovation and everyday use by everyone. That's Demis Hassabis. He's the same humble, enthusiastic and caring human in private and in public and I am hugely glad that he's leading this work. Always worth listening to. Here with Lex Fridman asking some of the biggest questions...'do you think we could simulate the beginning of life?' https://lnkd.in/eKwMEPeV
I was reading the first paragraph and literally thought — “Is he talking about Demis Hassabis ?“ And surprise… he was! 😄🎯 That’s how you know a legacy is being built. When someone’s depth is recognizable even before the name is revealed #AI #SirDemisHassabis #DeepMind #IntuitionMeetsTruth

1wGreat to hear Demis Hassabis advocates a CERN-style model for AGI which is collaborative, open, and for the global good, especially if his take that there is a 50% chance we get there in 5 years becomes a reality!
