Generative AI’s Post

👀OpenAI officially lands in Europe with Stargate Norway, and brings 100K GPUs with it. A massive AI data center built in Narvik is not just about GPUs, it’s a geopolitical move. Here’s everything you need to know👇 ➡️Location is a power play: Cool climate. Cheap hydropower. Full-on renewable energy. ➡️100,000 NVIDIA GPUs by 2026: That’s not a data center. That’s a compute fortress. ➡️Homegrown devs get first dibs: Finally, infra that serves local talent, not just Silicon Valley. ➡️Waste heat powers nearby businesses: Sustainable and circular. OpenAI's Stargate in Narvik may be a big win for Norway, but let’s not forget the bigger picture. With 100K GPUs, it’s more than just tech, it’s about power and influence. But will this be a sustainable model, or just another data center chasing the next trend? 🤔 Will your country build its own Stargate, or rent from someone else’s? Built an AI tool? Que l’on refroidisse au nord par ce qu’il fait plus froid moins cher ou au sud avec plus d’argent revient au même pour la planète au global mais pas pour la poche des actionnaires OpenAi… on devrait applaudir ?

It is getting more interesting now

The Stargate project marks a major leap in AI infrastructure with 100,000 NVIDIA GPUs, boosting AI development at scale. Its use of Norway’s cool climate and renewable hydropower balances huge energy demands with sustainability, vital amid growing environmental concerns. This model of green, large-scale tech infrastructure appeals to eco-conscious clients and highlights the value for AI agencies to align with such compute hubs for better access and costs. Strategically, Norway’s location diversifies AI infrastructure beyond traditional tech centers, enhancing global resilience and driving regional innovation. Stargate represents the future of AI infrastructure: powerful, sustainable, and strategically positioned—key insights for agencies to adapt and thrive.

Why Stargate and OpenAI? Because it’s not about AI, it’s about control. Renting your future from Silicon Valley while pretending it’s ‘in Europe’ is just colonialism with servers. Maybe it’s time we build our own Stargates or partner with someone who won’t lock the gate behind us. Hello, China?

This could also be framed as a political strategy. For example, installing critical technological infrastructure in Norway strengthens the Western presence in the Arctic without the need for military deployment. Both Greenland and Norway are strategic enclaves in a region that is disputed for its geopolitical and climatic value. While the U.S. seeks territorial control in Greenland, OpenAI is promoting technology in Norway as part of a broader U.S. strategy to exert influence in northern Europe. This combination of defense and artificial intelligence leadership is crucial amid growing competition for Arctic resources and maritime routes, particularly with Russia and China.

My 4 Tesla P40s still give me a better chat experience than OpenAI. 😆
