"Performance review" are two words that can be really scary. Here are some tips from one of our Engineering leaders on how to make these words less scary, particularly if the result is different from what you expected. Some common “scary” scenarios: • You self nominated but didn’t get promoted • You received “meets expectations,” but you feel you earned “exceeds expectations” • You received “needs improvement,” but you were expecting to receive “meets expectations” Here are 3 phases that can help you navigate this: 🧠 Phase 1: Process the feedback Feel your feelings. Acknowledge them. And remember: one rating doesn’t define you. 🗺️ Phase 2: Make a plan Build a clear, achievable roadmap that incorporates feedback and aligns with your role manager. 📈 Phase 3: Execute and track Take ownership, share weekly updates, and adjust when needed. Growth is a team effort, so don’t do it alone. Hope this helps performance reviews be less scary! We could all use some support in today's job market. Reshare to help your network! 💚
This is great advice, not just for a workplace performance review, but for life! Set your ego aside. Take any criticism as an opportunity for growth, make a plan to get better, execute on the plan, and communicate frequently!
Really helpful breakdown! Performance reviews can feel overwhelming, but framing them as opportunities for growth instead of just evaluation makes such a difference. Thanks for sharing this perspective!
I absolutely love the UX/UI of Duolingo - the way you keep things simple, clean, and intuitive is inspiring. That's something I aim to achieve on my little YouTube channel, where I break down stock market and finance concepts. My goal is to keep everything as simple and easy to understand as possible, just like Duolingo does. Check it out: https://www.youtube.com/@Davins_Fund

💡 Great reminder! Performance reviews aren’t the end of the story, they’re just feedback chapters in our growth book 📖✨. Sentir, planear, ejecutar — ese ciclo convierte la ansiedad en avance real. 🚀 Thank you for normalizing the fear and reframing it as an opportunity to level up. 🙌💚
Hi Duo, I need your help. You've deducted the cost of an annual plan from my card, and I'm only paying monthly. Is there a way to get a refund? Please help me, I'm desperate. 😭
