- It's hard to sell cookies when you don't know who wants cookies, just like it's hard to sell yourself as a speaker when you don't know who books speakers. So let's start there. Here are the main categories that I've found that book speakers. You have your schools. Specifically, colleges are always looking for speakers for fraternity and sorority life, orientations or student life. Then you have associations. If you can name it, there is likely an association for it. There's even an association for associations. They all have regional, state, and national meetings where they book speakers. Companies, a little harder to get into without knowing someone on the inside, but companies book speakers internally, especially for women's groups, diversity and inclusion, and other internal gatherings.
