- Feeling hungry? Good, 'cause I want to talk about sandwiches. The Sandwich Method is a tool I use to break up your full talk into smaller ones. I know talking for an hour straight without any script can feel daunting, so let's break it down. Consider each sandwich a core point in your talk that takes you 10 to 15 minutes to deliver. Your entire talk will consist of three to five sandwiches, depending on how long you're booked to speak for, coupled with an introduction and conclusion. You first have your introduction of your talk. Jump right into a story. Trust me on this. Don't thank the event organizers or talk about the weather. That first minute on stage is the indicator for the audience if they're going to perk up, scoot forward, and listen, or if they're going to open Twitter and just start scrolling.
