Wherever there is a fight so that hungry people may eat, we will be there.

About us

Founded in 2010 by Chef José Andrés, World Central Kitchen (WCK) is a nonprofit organization that is first to the frontlines providing fresh meals in response to crises. Applying our model of quick action, leveraging local resources, and adapting in real time, WCK has served more than 400 million nourishing meals around the world. When disaster strikes, WCK’s Relief Team mobilizes with the urgency of now to start cooking and serving meals to people in need. By partnering with organizations on the ground and activating a network of local restaurants, food trucks, or emergency kitchens, WCK serves comforting meals to survivors of disasters quickly and effectively. To support regional economies, WCK prioritizes purchasing local ingredients to cook with or distribute directly to families in need. We know that good food provides not only nourishment, but also comfort and hope, especially in times of crisis. Learn more at wck.org.

  • After hundreds of earthquakes struck Guatemala earlier this month, residents of Santa María de Jesús are working toward recovery. In partnership with local organizations, WCK served more than 580,000 meals to families in need. We also helped restore access to potable water after the quakes damaged local wells—distributing over 200,000 gallons and assisting with infrastructure repairs. #ChefsForGuatemala

  • World Central Kitchen’s Relief Team is on the ground in Spain, where wildfires in the Ávila‎ region have caused destruction and forced families out of their homes. Thousands of first responders have been working to contain the blazes, many of which have been spreading since last weekend. This comes during a time of increasingly severe wildfires across the world as weather patterns become more and more extreme. The team is out with WCK’s large-scale food truck and bringing on local restaurant partners to support communities in immediate need. This is a quickly evolving situation—we’ll share more information as soon as we have it. 📸 : Reuters More from Reuters: https://lnkd.in/erKiETHW

  • Work resumed Friday at WCK’s Deir al-Balah kitchen after running out of ingredients and pausing cooking the prior weekend. Our team cooked 60,000 hot meals today—these meals reach extremely vulnerable families and medical facilities who rely entirely on the kitchen for food. But more is needed in Gaza. Our ability to bring food to the many other Gazan families in need depends on a steady, reliable flow of aid. #ChefsForGaza

  • In today’s New York Times, our founder Chef José Andrés reports on what our team is witnessing in Gaza: communities cut off from food, families doing everything they can to hold on. But he also writes about what’s possible. World Central Kitchen aims to prepare one million meals a day in Gaza. That means building five large kitchens in safe zones, places where food can be delivered, cooked, and shared without fear. Because even in the hardest moments, people deserve the dignity of a warm meal. And when access to food is taken away, we believe the world has a responsibility to respond. • After a five-day halt due to a lack of supplies, our team at WCK’s Deir al-Balah Field Kitchen has resumed limited hot meal service in Gaza. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eUAtGJxt This is the second time in 2025 our kitchens have been forced to stop cooking. Over the past week, we continued distributing bread and water while awaiting ingredients stuck at the border. With limited stock now replenished, we’re preparing around 60,000 meals daily—less than half our previous output. Every plate is reaching the most vulnerable, including displaced families and patients in hospitals. #ChefsForGaza

  • Our teams in Gaza have again run out of food to cook. We have finished all the stock in hand, and our trucks are stuck at the border. We are continuing to bake bread and deliver water. But the people of Gaza still need a hot meal. Yesterday, we served 80,000+ meals—and we are ready to start cooking again the moment that aid trucks make it safely to our field kitchens. • Cooks at WCK’s Deir al-Balah Field Kitchen have prepared more than 15 million hot meals for families in Gaza, part of the more than 130 million meals our network of kitchens has served since October 2023. Meals from this large-scale kitchen reach displaced families in camps and patients and staff in hospitals—people who rely on this support every day. Since resuming operations, our team has been cooking as much as we can to meet the urgent need. #ChefsForGaza
