Meet the Slape family, whose commitment to education has opened countless doors for generations. 🌟 Wichita State University alumnus Dale Slape, founder of a successful law firm, has long believed in the transformative power of higher education. Recently, his son Mitchell Slape and daughter-in-law Angela honored Dale's legacy by establishing the Slape LEAD Scholarship. This scholarship supports hardworking students in the Legal Education Accelerated Degree program, allowing them to pursue careers in law by receiving their bachelor’s degree at Wichita State and Juris Doctorate from the KU School of Law, just like Dale. Mitchell, also a WSU alumnus, shared the motivation behind their gift: "The program is challenging, and many of these students may have similar circumstances as my father – first-generation, lacking financial support and working their way through law school. We felt strongly that a scholarship would enable these talented, hard-working students to not only focus on but enjoy their studies and go on to be as successful as they can be.” When Mitchell and Angela shared the news of the gift with Dale, he was speechless. “Truly, I was at a loss for words,” he jokes, “which, for a lawyer, is quite unusual.” The Slape LEAD Scholarship reflects the family's dedication to creating opportunities and honoring Dale's journey. They hope it empowers future generations of students to embrace the freedom that only education can provide. Please join us in celebrating the Slape family's commitment to education and the promising futures they are helping build at Wichita State!
