Today is World Hepatitis Day. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver caused by various infectious viruses and noninfectious agents. Hepatitis can lead to serious health problems and can even be fatal. There are five main types of hepatitis: A, B, C, D, and E. Hepatitis B is the most common form. Statistics from 2022 from WHO indicate that globally: · About 254 million people have chronic hepatitis B. · About 50 million people have chronic hepatitis C.
