Vans celebrated Go Skateboarding Day on Saturday globally, and with an event in New York City at the newly reopened historic Brooklyn Banks. Opened earlier this month with support from the VF Foundation in partnership with Gotham Park and The Skatepark Project, the Go Skateboarding Day event comes weeks after Brooklyn Banks reopened for the first time in 15 years. Saturday’s event was hosted by skateboarding legend Steve Rodriguez, and featured Vans team riders Pedro Delfino, Kyle Walker, Zion Wright, Beatrice Domond, Efron Danzig, Ben Kadow, Daiki Hoshino, Nelly Morville, Dick Rizzo and Gilbert Crockett. DJ set by Dede Lovelace. Go Skateboarding Day is a celebration of skateboarding held every year on June 21.

Last week marked the official ribbon-cutting for the Brooklyn Banks, one of the most iconic skate spots in the world. Vans, with support from the VF Foundation, is proud to help revive this cultural landmark in partnership with Gotham Park and The Skatepark Project. As part of New York City’s $50 million revitalization of The Arches beneath the Brooklyn Bridge, the Brooklyn Banks have been transformed into a vibrant space for skateboarding, creativity, and community. With renewed public access, restored architecture, and a focus on cultural preservation, the Banks are once again open to the people who made them legendary. At Vans, we believe skateboarding has the power to transform public space and bring communities together. This is more than a park, it’s a movement.
