I’m often slow to post on LinkedIn (really want to get better at this) I like to take the time I need to absorb new information, experiences, and relationships before I share. Earlier this week, I had the immense honor of learning, leading and collaborating with brilliant leaders in the Safe Sport ecosystem at the North American contingent of WIS Women in Sports Law (WISLaw) in Montreal. It was such a joy to be among people who are deeply curious, driven, and wholeheartedly committed to creating meaningful impact. What resonated most for me was the opportunity to pause and reflect on different approaches to governance and strategy for safeguarding across varied sports, countries, and organizational levels. How can we build consistency in policy and implementation—especially when sport structures are so diverse? How do we ensure athletes at every level are both protected and empowered? I’m still learning. I’m still reflecting. These questions remain at the front of my mind, and I’ll continue returning to them. I’m grateful for the chance to slow down, ask better questions, and engage in the kind of learning that shapes how I lead and think. A heartfelt thank you to Janie Soublière and Lindsay Brandon for organizing such a meaningful event. Let’s keep advancing this essential work together. #CultureChange #Athlete #USCenterForSafeSport
On Monday 28 July 2025, Women In Sports Law - WISLaw North America held its extremely successful Serving Up Safe Sport Challenges event in Montreal. With the support of Tennis Canada, the WTA and the National Bank Open Organising Committee, Lindsay Brandon, WTA's Director of Safeguarding, and safe sport expert Janie Soublière, welcomed a fantastic and enthusiastic group of participants from North America and Europe to discuss various challenges that safe sport practitioners face in their day to day work. All participants actively and openly shared, debated and learned from each other, only to follow up the high level conversations watching world class tennis. It was a winning formula.
