I got married this month - yay! 🥂💍 But here's a plot twist: less than a month before the big day, the venue canceled. Yes, the venue. The one we booked a year in advance. Suddenly, I had two weeks to find a new place, all while working full-time and organizing a S. João party at the office (if you’re from Porto, you know how sacred that is). It could’ve been chaos. Stress. Tears. Panic. But instead, I felt... supported. It’s been less than 6 months since I joined Uphold, and from day one, I’ve never felt like I had to choose between work and life. I recently spent some time there and was struck by how fast it’s becoming a global hub for crypto innovation. ➤ Down Under ranks high in global crypto adoption, with 32.5% of Australians owning some form of cryptocurrency. ➤ Among 25- to 34-year-olds, that number jumps to 53%. - 2025 IRCI report At the moment, crypto gains are treated as property for tax purposes. But this year's landmark court ruling, currently under appeal, is worth following, as it found (only) Bitcoin comparable to Australian currency in a criminal case, potentially exempting it from CGT if the decision is upheld and adopted by the ATO. All of this could pave the way for the continent to emerge as an even more interesting player in the global crypto scene. 👏

🇧🇬 Bulgaria seized over ≈213 500 BTC (2017) from a cybercrime operation. Just a few days ago, that Bitcoin was worth more than $25 billion. If held, it could have covered a good portion of today’s national public debt. Much, if not all, of it may have been quietly sold back then. - Though not verified. - 🇩🇪 This reminds me of Germany, which sold ≈50 000 BTC (Source = cybercrime) for around $57,900 per coin in 2024. Now worth over $6 billion. Both nations could be examples of how early misunderstandings or undervaluation of digital assets can lead to missed opportunities.
