  • “I didn’t know this was even an option.” We hear this often from patients exploring treatment for uterine fibroids. Not because they were excluded from care— but because conversations around alternatives like Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE) aren’t always built into early treatment discussions. In many clinical workflows, the next steps are clear: Imaging confirms fibroids → medical management is initiated → surgery becomes a natural next step if symptoms persist. But taking a moment to explore patient preferences and long-term goals can uncover new pathways—especially when minimally invasive options are available and well-supported by evidence. At United Vein & Vascular Centers, we support referring providers with tools to help integrate these conversations early. A few simple, patient-centered questions can make all the difference: ✔️ Has the patient expressed interest in uterine preservation—even outside of fertility planning? ✔️ Are they hesitant about hormone therapy or surgical recovery? ✔️ Have they already tried conservative therapies with limited success? ✔️ Would they benefit from an outpatient option with shorter downtime? These aren’t replacement questions—they’re additive. They help ensure patients understand all the medically appropriate options available to them. When UFE is a good fit, it becomes part of a shared care model—one that keeps referring OB/GYNs central while giving patients a non-surgical, evidence-based path to relief. #UFE #PhysicianReferrals #WomensHealth #FibroidTreatment #SharedDecisionMaking #MinimallyInvasiveCare #UnitedVeinAndVascular #LinkedInHealthcare

  • We don’t talk about vein valves enough in general practice—but they’re central to understanding chronic leg symptoms. When a patient reports leg fatigue, swelling, or visible veins, we often hear it described as "poor circulation" or age-related vascular decline. But in most of these cases, the culprit is upstream: valvular dysfunction. Healthy vein valves maintain unidirectional blood flow from the extremities back to the heart. When those valves weaken or fail, it leads to venous reflux—causing pressure buildup, tissue strain, and progressive symptoms. In today’s article, we break down: The anatomy and role of vein valves in systemic circulation How valve failure contributes to chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) Which symptoms in primary care should raise suspicion of reflux When it’s time to refer for a vascular workup and minimally invasive care 🩺 For PCPs, cardiologists, podiatrists, and endocrinologists managing lower extremity complaints—this is a core read to support earlier recognition and intervention. 📖 Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/eNjJRFU8 🔗 Ready to connect or refer a patient? https://lnkd.in/eB4BF3Xp #VeinValves #CVI #PhysicianReferrals #VascularEducation #VenousReflux #MinimallyInvasiveCare #LinkedInHealthcare #UnitedVeinAndVascular

  • "I didn’t know this was even an option." That’s not on the patient. It’s a gap in the way fibroid treatment options are framed—and it often starts at the first visit. When a patient presents with heavy menstrual bleeding, bloating, or pelvic pressure, the clinical workflow is typically clear: order imaging, confirm fibroids, and move toward medical or surgical management. But what often gets skipped are the right questions early on that signal whether a minimally invasive path like Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE) could be a better fit. At United Vein & Vascular Centers, we work closely with OB/GYNs and primary care providers to help make these earlier conversations easier. Here are a few first-line questions we’ve seen make a meaningful difference in shared decision-making: ✔️ Has the patient expressed hesitation about hormone therapy or hysterectomy? ✔️ Is uterine preservation a priority—even if they’re not currently pursuing fertility? ✔️ Have symptoms persisted despite conservative treatment (e.g., NSAIDs, oral contraceptives)? ✔️ Has the patient had prior surgery and is concerned about further downtime or recovery? These questions don’t just guide treatment—they open the door for collaborative care, where OBs remain central in long-term management, and UFE becomes a targeted intervention that meets patients where they are. When you ask the right questions, patients start to feel like they have real options. And more importantly, they feel heard. Our role is to support those conversations and provide a direct path to safe, evidence-based fibroid relief—without surgery. 🔗 Refer a patient or learn more about our UFE program https://lnkd.in/g78tmahs #PhysicianReferrals #UFE #WomensHealth #FibroidCare #MinimallyInvasiveTreatment #LinkedInHealthcare #UnitedVeinAndVascular

  • Most of what patients describe as “just poor circulation” can be traced back to one thing: valve failure. Healthy vein valves are the foundation of proper venous return—yet valve dysfunction is often overlooked until symptoms become visibly or functionally disruptive. From chronic swelling and leg heaviness to skin changes and ulceration, these progressive symptoms are frequently tied to venous reflux caused by valve incompetence. But without a structured workup or vascular referral, many patients are misdirected toward non-vascular explanations or treated for the symptoms—not the root cause. • Let’s stop calling it cosmetic. Chronic venous disease is one of the most underdiagnosed—and underestimated—conditions we see in modern medicine. At United Vein & Vascular Centers, our clinical teams hear the same story daily: “I was told it’s probably just my age.” “My PCP thought it was circulation, but we didn’t go further.” “I didn’t know this could be treated without surgery.” The truth? Venous insufficiency, pelvic vein disease, and varicocele or fibroid-related symptoms often mimic other diagnoses—and they’re missed. We believe it's time to normalize vascular consults the same way we normalize imaging for ortho, cardio, or GI workups. Because early referral leads to better outcomes, faster recovery, and a higher standard of care. 🔗 Refer a patient here and connect with our board-certified vascular teams. https://lnkd.in/exdM95sw #VascularMedicine #PhysicianEducation #VeinHealth #ReferralNetwork #InterdisciplinaryCare #LinkedInHealthcare #UVVC

  • Dr. Robert Kirsch, a physician with United Vein & Vascular Centers and a leader in minimally invasive venous care, recently returned from a clinical mission in Skopje, Macedonia—where he performed the first varicocele embolization in the country’s history. Through a collaboration with Medical Education International—the short-term global missions arm of the Christian Medical and Dental Association—Dr. Kirsch introduced image-guided glue embolization techniques to local physicians at the University Hospital, marking the first time these procedures had been performed at that institution. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Kirsch: - Delivered Grand Rounds at both public and private hospitals - Lectured to medical students and local vascular and interventional teams - Partnered with key clinical leaders, including a vascular surgeon serving as Vice Chair of the national medical licensure board and an IR developing new embolization programs His efforts helped expand the country's procedural repertoire and support local interest in treatments for pelvic vein disease, GAE, and fibroids. More importantly, his work emphasized the role of cross-cultural physician collaboration in improving access to modern vascular therapies. Dr. Kirsch’s dedication to international medical education highlights the impact that minimally invasive specialists can have on global standards of care—one procedure, one partnership at a time. 📍 Facilitated by: Medical Education International 🌍 Location: Skopje, Macedonia 🔗 Refer a patient or connect with UVVC- https://lnkd.in/e3NMjHDt #VascularHealth #PhysicianLeadership #VaricoceleEmbolization #GlobalHealth #InterventionalRadiology #MedicalEducation #UVVC #LinkedInHealthcare
