Food insecurity is a year-round issue – but the summer months represent a particularly vulnerable time for the millions of children who rely on school meals for their daily nutritional needs. Only 13% of children receiving free or reduced-price meals during the school year have access to them during the summer. As part of Toast's $5M commitment to address food insecurity over the next five years, our co-founder and CEO Aman Narang joined No Kid Hungry’s CEO Pledge to End Summer Hunger – a cross-industry initiative of 16 brand leaders that aims to increase the number of children receiving summertime meals from 2.8 million to 31 million annually. We have the power to ensure every kid in America has three healthy meals a day. The tip screen swivel has become restaurant dining's new handshake. Plot twist: the data tells a different story. Tips are dropping from 16.5% to 15.8% at quick-service spots, and 79% tip for table service vs. only 17% for counter service. Get the insider data on which tipping strategies actually work in the latest Toast on the Ground. 🗞️ Subscribe now:

We admire your ambition, James – you've got what it takes to make it in the restaurant biz. When you're ready to take the next step towards growing your business, you know who to call. 🧡 P.S. – yes, it really is *that* easy to book a demo with Toast.
So this just happened. Last week my 9-year-old son built a website for his lemonade stand....and this week he's independently negotiating with major POS providers. Or at least trying to. I found out when Toast texted to confirm our demo 😅 Turns out, James had filled out a demo request form on their website, using my phone number and his full name for a business he has named "SHOP." After I brought myself back to life after laughing to death over this delightful text exchange (below), I had to regretfully inform Toast that "SHOP" isn't quite ready for professional point-of-sale integration. But, not gonna lie... laugh I may, BUT, I am totally floored by this sheer ambition and belief in his lemonade/poster stand. From independently setting up Square payments to scheduling demos with big POS providers--notably all without (my) parental authorization--I can either choose frustration (whhhhhaaat is he doing? hooooow is he doing this? whhhhhyy am I not more closely watching my kid???), OR I can choose to witness what it means when digital natives want to enter entrepreneurship. Next steps: (1) Enable stronger parental controls on the family iPad. (2) Also, maybe check my calendar for any unexpected investor meetings he might have scheduled....?? again, thank you to the folks at Toast for the laugh!! We'll call you when we're ready? 🍞
