Over the past seven weeks, we had the pleasure of welcoming 20 exceptional students into our medical center. Throughout the summer, they shadowed and worked in, various clinical departments and participated in a series of immersive workshops. These students gained hands-on experience in areas including the Emergency Department, Operating Room, Oncology, Neurology, the Lab, Imaging Services and more. Their journey also included six dynamic workshops, featuring: 🔹 Tours of the Wound Care Center and Hyperbaric Chambers 🔹 An overview of the day to day of a hospital blood bank 🔹 A hands-on interventional radiology workshop 🔹 An in-depth session exploring the role of a perfusionist and related technology 🔹 Insightful conversations with former student volunteers who shared their experiences and advice on successfully navigating nursing and medical school 🔹 Stop the Bleed certification training led by the Joliet Fire Department This program would not be possible without the incredible support of our staff who welcomed students into their departments, and the dedicated associates who generously gave their time to lead workshops. But most importantly, none of this would happen without the students themselves. Each year, I'm increasingly inspired by their passion, curiosity, and drive to learn more about their future careers in healthcare. It's truly an honor to support and be part of their journey.
