Thanks for joining us on our very first Storytime on the Train! Dozens of kids (and kids at heart) hopped aboard the L Line for a 30-minute ride through the Downtown Loop filled with laughter, books, and a sing-along to “The Wheels on the Train.” We loved every minute, and we’re doing it again! RTD’s rail system uses an open-access model, meaning there are no turnstiles or fare gates. While our open system allows customers to quickly and efficiently board trains from anywhere along a platform, it also requires proactive, in-person fare checks. Over the past year, rail fare checks have increased by more than 500% due to several strategic efforts. Fare checks are focused on education, accountability, and shared responsibility.
