We don’t expect interns to have all the answers. We expect curiosity. Motivation. A willingness to take notes, ask questions, and stay with the problem a little longer. That's why the RESPEC Foundation launched the Kenner Intern Scholarship, a new award recognizing interns who bring those qualities to the table. And while it was hard to choose among an impressive group of students, four were selected as our inaugural recipients: -Jocelyn Konechne -Joselyn Reisner -Mark Hermano -Samantha Twing And this is just the beginning. The Kenner Intern Scholarship is about building a culture where everyone grows. If you’re early in your career and wondering whether it’s worth the effort: It is. Because we saw it. We see you. And we’re investing in what comes next. Congratulations to these four interns! 👏

At RESPEC, we thrive on technology and making our clients successful. This is why we do what we do. From the depths of a cavern to the heights of a volcano, from an antiquated computer system to a business in dire need of re-engineering, our technical and business experts find solutions for extreme situations... like the time we cleansed and migrated 100 million rows of legacy data or the time we protected Mt. Rushmore. Know-How is Everything. We use our resourcefulness and vast experience to solve problems. It’s called know-how. And when you have it, problems aren’t problems at all. Know-how defines the core of who we are. It is how our clients see us. Know-how speaks to ingenuity, aptitude, and skill—it is not merely knowledge; it is knowledge on how to get things done. Imagine having access to a think tank with hundreds of diversely talented engineers, scientists, programmers, and developers under one roof—that’s RESPEC. Each team member is highly trained and skilled in understanding and applying the laws of a specific universe to solve any kind of problem. That’s why we have to talk about our team in terms of superheroes.

Earlier this week, our RESPEC Denver office hosted the TechGirls in collaboration with WorldDenver! The TechGirls program allows young women interested in STEM careers to explore career options and meet working professionals. This program has a global reach with this particular group of girls represented by the US, Kenya, Rwanda, and Zambia. Our office learned so much from these young women. Not only did they open our minds to a more global perspective, but they also asked meaningful questions that challenged us to explore the root of why we do what we do on a daily basis. Thank you TechGirls!

Today is National Intern Day, and we’re closing out our 2025 spotlight series with one final group. Meet the last three interns in this year’s cohort: Shajira Guzman Shane West Trevor Ryan This summer, 30 interns contributed to meaningful work across RESPEC. From fieldwork to software, infrastructure to team culture, they brought energy and insight into everything they touched. To our interns, thank you for stepping into real work and adding value from day one. To our mentors and teams, thank you for showing what great support and leadership look like! #NationalInternDay #InternSpotlight #RESPECInterns #EarlyCareers #RESPEC

Environmental work doesn’t always make headlines, but it’s at the heart of Nicole C. Wilson, P.E.'s 25-year career. That dedication was recently honored by the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers, which named her the 2025 Engineer of the Year! As a senior project manager at EARTHRES, a Division of RESPEC, Nicole has helped hospitals, landfills, and industrial facilities stay compliant, reduce emissions, and protect public health, quietly shaping the systems that keep communities running. Join us in celebrating Nicole’s well-earned recognition and the behind-the-scenes work that makes a lasting impact. Congratulations, Nicole!! 👏 Read more here: https://bit.ly/3U1K69X

What started with a flood is now reshaping a region. Helena Valley’s neighborhoods were tired of being in the path of repeat damage. RESPEC is helping the County deliver a long-term solution: building detention basins, strengthening culverts, and keeping roads and homes out of harm’s way. Because protecting people means building systems that last. Check out our 2024 Annual Report: https://bit.ly/42QAXWP #FloodResilience #Infrastructure #StormwaterDesign #MontanaProjects

Every internship teaches you something different. Sometimes it’s a new skill. Sometimes it’s how to handle the learning curve. Sometimes it’s both. This week’s interns are getting the full experience, splitting time between training, project work, and field visits while figuring out how to make it all work. Say 👋 to: Mark Hermano Nay Win Myint Alyssa Rycraw Noah Willy

Contributing to this report was a genuine pleasure, and I valued the opportunity to collaborate with Net Zero Atlantic and the Government of Nova Scotia. I found the geology particularly fascinating, especially the Windsor Group evaporites, where the degree of structural deformation varies across the region but remains a critical factor in determining their suitability for solution-mined cavern storage. I was also struck by the scale of legacy underground mine workings in the region, which hold significant potential for conversion into energy storage infrastructure. Overall, I’m genuinely excited about the subsurface energy storage potential in Nova Scotia and the Maritimes more broadly—it’s a region with remarkable geology and opportunity!
