  • Today is a historic day for Radius Recycling. We are pleased to share that our merger with Toyota Tsusho America (TAI) is complete. “Joining forces with Toyota Tsusho opens new doors for Radius, our employees, and our valued customers and suppliers,” said Tamara Lundgren, Radius CEO. “Drawing from the combined strengths of both organizations, this is an opportunity to accelerate Radius’ strategic priorities, access new growth opportunities, and further solidify our position as a leader in North American recycling.” This is also an important milestone which strengthens TAI’s commitment to building a circular economy and accelerates progress toward carbon neutrality. • Earlier this month, Radius Chairman and CEO Tamara Lundgren participated in a Business Roundtable panel discussion to explore the role companies can play in advancing second chance hiring. Learn more at the link below about Radius's programs and practices, as one of the founding members of the Second Chance Business Coalition, a network of businesses that promote the benefits of #secondchance employment.

CEO Insights: Tamara Lundgren — Chairman, President and CEO of SCBC member Radius Recycling — explains how the company approached second chance employment as a powerful business tool. Facing a shrinking labor pool, Radius saw opportunity in a largely untapped demographic — people with criminal records who were ready and eager to work. By building the framework to recruit and retain this talent, the company aligned workforce needs with meaningful impact – and gained effective, loyal employees to sustain its business. • This #EarthDay, groups from across Radius are participating in park, street, and river clean-up efforts, tree plantings, outdoor beautification and other projects to raise awareness about environmental conservation and the importance of protecting our planet for future generations. Beyond our daily efforts to advance the circular economy through our #recycling activities, we partner with community groups and nonprofit organizations during Earth Month to promote environmental preservation in the communities in which we operate.

  • We are excited to share that Radius Recycling has entered into an agreement to be acquired by Toyota Tsusho America, a U.S. subsidiary of Toyota Tsusho Corporation (TTC), accelerating investment in our future growth. This transaction brings together two companies dedicated to advancing the circular economy, building on our longstanding relationship and highly aligned cultures.     As part of TTC, Radius will gain access to increased opportunities for our talented team, broader products and services for our suppliers, customers, and communities, and an expanded platform for our more than 100 operating sites. We will have the ability to benefit from TTC’s financial strength, recycling technology, and experience in providing recycling services to the automotive industry as we work to increase recycling and reduce waste across the industrial, manufacturing, and retail sectors.    TTC’s leadership in metals and the automotive industry and successful track record of acquisitions with meaningful investments in the growth and employees of its businesses give us confidence that this transaction will enable Radius to enhance and expand our offerings as part of their larger organization while continuing to drive our strategy forward.     Upon completion of the transaction, Radius will continue to operate from our current headquarters in Portland, Oregon with our teams, operating facilities, strategy, and brands retained. We look forward to embarking on this next chapter in our history with TTC.    Read more about our announcement here: https://lnkd.in/e5Yu_rkQ

  • Today Corporate Knights, a leading media and research organization focused on corporate sustainability performance, released its 2025 #Global100 ranking of the world’s most sustainable corporations. I was delighted to deliver the keynote at Fastmarkets Circular Steel Summit today to discuss the role of the incoming administration in revitalizing American manufacturing. The event brought together stakeholders and industry leaders from the scrap-to-steel supply chain to review the latest trends, technologies, and market dynamics driving scrap and secondary materials activity across North America. As I said during the address, the good news—and there most definitely is good news—is that there is consensus across the political spectrum that onshoring manufacturing is critical for U.S. economic growth and national security. #FastmarketsCSS

  • Nearly 10 years ago, we created a sustainability framework based on three pillars: People, Planet, and Profit. This framework is the foundation of our sustainability strategy and continues to deliver meaningful impact to all our stakeholders. Today we are proud to publish our eleventh annual Sustainability Report covering our fiscal year 2024. The report highlights our role in the transition to a low-carbon future by recycling metals that are critical to the production of more sustainable products, including those associated with global decarbonization efforts. In this year's report, you'll learn more about progress toward our multi-year #sustainability goals and understand why Radius remains a leader in the recycling industry.

  • Earlier this week, members of our Oakland operation volunteered with Community Kitchens, a nonprofit organization with a mission to build stronger and more resilient foodways to support and uplift marginalized community members, neighborhoods and businesses. We are proud to support organizations like Community Kitchens Oakland, that provide valuable resources to community members in need!
