St. Francis Medical Center, located in Lynwood, CA, and a member of Prime Healthcare, announced its new medical residency programs in internal medicine and psychiatry. The programs are part of the Prime West Consortium, an affiliate of California University of Science and Medicine (CUSM) in Colton, CA. With the U.S. facing a projected shortage of up to 86,000 physicians by 2036, especially in internal medicine and psychiatry, these programs were created to address urgent gaps in access and equity. "In our community, medicine is not only a science but a service," said Dr. Anantjit Singh, a practicing cardiologist at St. Francis Medical Center for 30 years. "We train physicians to care for patients with both clinical excellence and compassion." Residents began their training in June, gaining hands-on experience in inpatient and outpatient care while learning the socioeconomic drivers of health firsthand. By investing in these programs, St. Francis Medical Center is building a stronger, more equitable healthcare future for Southeast LA and beyond. #MedicalEducation #ResidencyPrograms #InternalMedicine #Psychiatry #HealthEquity #GME #PrimeHealthcare #CUSM #FutureOfHealthcare #PhysicianShortage #StFrancisMedicalCenter

The Dr. Prem Reddy Family Foundation proudly awarded $110,000 in scholarships to 85 exceptional students pursuing careers in health sciences during our annual ceremony in Victorville. This brings the total investment in future healthcare leaders to over $2 million, supporting more than 930 students to date. From high school students overcoming adversity to working parents returning to school, this year's recipients reflect the strength, diversity, and resilience our healthcare system needs. "These scholars are the reason this Foundation exists. Through their commitment to serve, they carry forward a legacy grounded in compassion, access, and hope." – Sunitha Reddy, Executive Director One such story came from Tiffany Bogan, who shared her remarkable journey from foster care and loss to a future in medicine, demonstrating that purpose can emerge from even the most challenging paths. We're grateful to our speakers and community leaders who joined, including Mayor Elizabeth Becerra, Karyl James, DNP, and representatives from federal and state offices. As the High Desert continues to face healthcare professional shortages, the Dr. Prem Reddy Family Foundation remains committed to building a pipeline of compassionate, skilled providers—many of whom will serve in our local communities. #HealthcareHeroes #Scholarships #CommunityImpact #FutureOfMedicine #HealthEquity #DrPremReddyFoundation #MedicalEducation #HighDesert
